  1. From the CPS website, specifically relating to firearms.... Section 19: it is an offence for a person to have with them in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse a loaded shot gun, an air weapon (whether loaded or not), any other firearm (whether loaded or not) together with ammunition suitable for use in that firearm, or an imitation firearm. So, not seen as an over reaction by the law. In some cases, the law is an ass, but I don't believe it is in this case - it's not the wild west 🙂
  2. Irrespective of whether the flyer was doing it legally or not, wandering around with a firearm (even a BB pistol) cannot be condoned.......
  3. Ouch! I'm sure you'll solve the conundrum.....
  4. I'd be ok with a flying boat, 'cos that's just a pointy fuselage! I'd be less happy with floats....
  5. I think it's FASST, I'll check... it's in an XK110 heli....
  6. Everything? Really? Them little Arrows edfs are fabulous flyers.
  7. FrSky - various types incl RX8RPro in petrol Couple of RM168's - they seem fine but you can't seem to get them now Spektrum DSM2 Spektrum DSMX Couple of cheap indoor FrSky clones Orange DSM2 Orange DSMX Just got a 10 channel FlySky to try Some generic Chinese tiny 2channel 'block' rx/esc/servos in a tiny indoor jobby Futaba FASST in a small indoor heli. My larger planes (10cc and above) all have FrSky. No problems with any so far. Some have required fine tuning (can't remember which), and I fine tuned each rx individually, rathe than have a value per protocol. The variety was partly choice, and partly because I came from the Spekky world so had a variety on hand.
  8. I you can't make it in person, there's a video 'walkaound' available on the web site..... an enjoyable hour!
  9. Sorry, that wasn't vey clear..... I think the NHS app stored the QR code data and then the data on your phone was used for tracing. The establishment with the code couldn't collect any data about you..... Happy(?) to be proven wrong.
  10. I think it was the app on your phone storing the data but could be wrong - been out if IT for a while....
  11. Nice site Nont Sarah....... nice plane too!
  12. As far as I know, using a QR code doesn't result in anything being saved - possibly a cookie when you reach the 'destination' similar to visiting a web page. It's just a quick way of reaching a destination. I do agree that a web link, in addition to the QR Code, would be good.
  13. Our club rules state that members need to be aware of, and compliant with, all current CAA regulations pertaining to model flying, including operator ID's. We don't check planes but members have been known to point out the lack of them on some models (to the models owner) - which seems to result in a sticker appearing. If a member complained, I guess a committee member would need to point out that club rules should be followed......
  14. Didn't see any standard size Wot4s - just XLs... must have all been sold on Saturday...
  15. I went on Sunday as well - 9:44 until 16:15. Impressions (not Norman Collier...): Some of those planes must take years to build as lots were there last time I went! Good to see the Vulcan - will miss it The enormous Tabloid was hugely impressive Those jets are fast! Must be a real adrenaline rush to fly inverted at those speeds and so low I was less 'meh' about the IMAC planes than previously. That nine year old sure can fly! Strangely gratifying that even some of the show flights end in antipodean landings like mine! Favourite plane - that big yellow biplane (can't remember what it was!) Loved the big radial engine on the PT17 People were asking silly money in the bring and buy Also some real old tat in the 'clearance' trade tents - will people really buy that stuff? Not many bargains in the trade tents - but good to see them there. I managed to get loads of batteries for the indoor season. Also wanted a ew props but the sizes I wanted were all sold out Couldn't believe the state of the models on display outside the SLEC tent - they looked like they'd been left in a garage for decades (apart from the PT19); surely 10 minutes with a wet wipe or similar would have been a good investment. Nice to see all that lovely balsa! Last time I went, there were 2 flight lines - the main one, and a secondary one for smaller models and the 'have a go'. This year, the smaller models were missing - I wonder why? Despite the bone dry conditions, and signs prohibiting them, there was still evidence of portable barbecues being used. Why take the risk for a few charred sausages? Decent attendance but not uncomfortably packed Great to see the BBMF Lanc - three passes right along the main runway - nIce and low, and CLOSE. Gorgeous. Overall, an extremely well arranged, and very enjoyable, event. Already have next years event in my calendar. Highly recommended.
  16. Surely that's Yorkshire. Even when I lived in Wales it was called that.....
  17. I saw those at Elvington this weekend - that's where the picture are from. I was very tempted. I especially liked the example with wire-spoked wheels. Watching with interest.....
  18. @fluffyninjaI have ailerons at 10mm; ele at 8mm. I'd suggest 6mm ail and ele to start....
  19. fluffyninja - I have one of those Hawks, I fly it on 3s 1500's and can tell you it gets very small, very quickly; also, it likes to be flown fast so you have minimal thinking time - your inputs need to be pretty much automatic. That's why it's not recommended for someone learning. It's certainly not hard to fly, but you have no thinking time..... I think you may need to have less control movement too - looks like you have more aileron movement than I do by about 50% - can't see elevator movement. I'll measure my throws later - mine rolls vey fast and the elevator movement allows quite high alpha, but is still sufficient to induce a high speed stall if I am ham-fisted. That's how I lost my first one. Finally, mine is the only one of the little Arrows edf in the club that hasn't had its nose knocked off following a launch. I always launch at full throttle, aiming slightly above the horizon. The upside is that it reaches flying speed immediately, with no 'dip' (it doesn't hit the ground!); the downside is that it's immediately getting away from you.... What do you currently fly?
  20. 2 VERY noisy F15's were buzzing around yesterday afternoon. In the evening, just after dark, something very noisy, very slow, lumbered over..... couldn't see it and it wasn't on Freedar.
