  1. Yep, I had the same here but has now improved.
  2. Just a timely reminder to book these days into your diary. More details to follow but basically the 3 days are 'fly for fun' days with Friday being dedicated to the memory of Laser Engines. Saturday and Sunday are 'Best of British' so any models that were designed and / or manufactured in GB will be eligible. I'm hoping to have slots for the likes of Flair, Chris Foss, Warbirds Replicas, Mick Reeves, Galaxy Models etc etc and if there are enough there may even be chance to have dedicated model type slots such as WOT4. The emphasis is going to be on FUN!
  3. September 27th at Buckminster will give us a chance to celebrate the 'Laser Years', book it in your diaries.
  4. Oh dear, now you know what’s going to happen don’t you? 🥴
  5. Most defo Chris and before there is any sniggering, at that phrase, at the back of the class I should explain that I had exactly the same thing with my earlier Mk1 Dolly launches as it just hadn't got up to flying speed. Now with Mk2 Dolly it is straight and level each time. another thing to check, where is your CG? Moving it back certainly helps with dolly take offs.
  6. Did you stand on the table to get enough height over the Temp to get it all in frame? Or were your shoes just drying in the sun following an early morning romp through the wet grass. Now Elf and Safety this end have (has - you know who it is) pointed out that a man of your calibre should have known that you could have placed the model on the ground to get the same effect. However I did add that you were probably also practicing for the 'plunge of faith into the small round tin' Guinness World Record attempt.
  7. That’s a good ‘find’ Murat, May have to use some of those when I add some detail to the cockpit, if I can stop flying it for long enough that is!
  8. Fortunately our full size airstrip is very well drained as it’s on a gravel sub base, in fact, despite all the rain we’ve had, the full size guys have still be able to use it throughout the winter.
  9. If you mean the shopping trolley wheels then you pride them out from the inside. I then 3D print new inserts to take the axle bolts.
  10. A good day up at the field yesterday, in fact, in the morning it was positively scorchio but turned chilly in the afternoon when the sun went. A good turnout with 12 turning up at various times throughout the day and the bonus was that we managed to get the whole of the airstrip's grass cut for the first time this year, the Fergie starting first time! Highlight of the flights was this maiden flight of the Knife by Craig, blink and you miss it!
  11. I've just measured the CG and it is now at 100mm back from F2.
  12. A CoG update, I removed all of the additional noseweight before flying yesterday and can report that it flies perfectly OK with it like that, it is not over sensitive on the elevator and inverted requires less ‘down’ as you would expect. TBH when I carried out a CG flying test it indicated that it was still a bit nose heavy, but I’m OK with it as it is. I didn’t measure the CG position but will do that later and publish on here. My only issue now is restraining myself from flying it like a Reno racer but even at WOT boy is it planted and completely non scale knife edge passes are rock solid!
  13. Yes, fingers crossed for tomorrow which is shaping up to be a nice day.
  14. Another little trick to get rid of bubbles, pick a little hole in one of the bubbles then use Superphatic glue with the thin nozzle and ‘inject’ it into the bubble. Remove the nozzle then massage the glue into the bubbles. It’s amazing how it wicks through the bubble ‘field’ and sticks them down.
  15. Chapter 5 - Fuselage front, U/C mount and fuel tank.
  16. These are excellent: COB STROBON
  17. No need for down or side thrust, it flies just great as designed.
  18. My suggestion is that the PVA was thinned too much. I use the Hobbycraft brown paper and don't have that problem. Regarding the bubbles, no need to peel it all of, just run a scalpel gently right the way down the length of the area then 2 more cuts at the ends of the line to form an H. Gently peel back the brown paper, it has bubbles so it won't have stuck down, apply some more PVA to it then smooth down. I suspect that the reason for the air bubbles is that there was either insufficient PVA on the brown paper or it had dried out before you laid it down, you said in your post above 'It seemed to start drying on the paper quite quickly'. There is a bit of a knack to this brown papering lark but you'll soon get the hang of it.
  19. This news really is a bummer. I've got over 20 Laser engines not just because they are truly excellent engines but the support from Jon is miles above that from any other engine manufacturer imo. It really did seem like the start of a new era with the in-line twins and the flat twins being developed so this announcement has come as a great shock. Looking ahead, there is the event at the end of September at Buckminster which has the Friday dedicated to Laser engined powered models and the Saturday and Sunday to the 'Best of British', I see no reason for this to change so I will still forge ahead with the planning but maybe now it will give us Laserites (I just made that up) a chance to mourn the passing of this truly great marque.
  20. Real world range of my Ioniq 5 based on my driving over the last 6 months, in warmer weather (last September / October) I was getting just over 4 miles per kWh which gave it a range of just over 300 miles. In colder weather this dropped to just over 3 miles per kWh which gave it a range of 240 miles. The manufactures say 315 miles. I really don't care what magazines say, these are my figures based on my real world and the resultant range plus the expansion of the charging infrastructure gives me no range fear.
  21. I was going to put a comment on here along the lines of there isn't a lot of difference between the 2 (apart from the nose) before I realised that Keith wasn't comparing eggs with eggs, more eggs with an omelette. But my suggestion would be to do what I plan to do, buy 2 kits, make one as intended, the Tempest, then butcher the other to make a Sea Fury.
  22. Thanks for clearing that up Jon, it's a great shame as the engine is excellent and I, for one, will not be selling the one I still have!
