David Ashby - Moderator
The new October issue has been dropping through subscriber letter boxes today. As always we welcome thoughts and feedback in relation to the issue, specific review feedback can be made here in the normal way. The plan model, Tim Hooper''s marvellous Hawker Cygnet is quite large so we''ll be bringing the remainder of the plan in the November issue. Incidentally, Tim will be bringing some of his models, including the Cygnet to display at our Nats stall this coming weekend so do drop by and take a look. James M
Hi David Something wrong here - October issue in August ?? No wonder I'm getting old quickly! James
David Ashby - Moderator
Yes, seems early James. We produce 13 issues a year and an Autumn Special Issue (that we're now working on) slips between the Oct and Nov issues. Special issue goes on sale 23rd Sep. James M
here's and idea can't you make it a Summer Special and have it between July - August and split the year ?? Or is there a historical precedent for this ?? Or - thinking about it - you have a plan special in the summer so you's have two specials at the same time! Keith Simmons
Thanks and will have a look if mine arrived at home today . Is the Special issue included with the subscription or shall i have to go to the shops on 23rd Sept?
David Ashby - Moderator
Well we don't produce the Plans Special, that's done by the plans dept people. In truth, I'm not entirely sure why it is when it is...... I'll let you know if I find out.

Terry Walters
Wow! Got mine here in remote sunny SW France today!!! Well done RCME! I had resigned myself to getting it next week. Great - something to do until all this very very hot weather passes! Terry

Brian, sorry to contradict but it was included so I only assume you had a hiccup with your subscription there. Did it expire just before the Special perhaps? Don't confuse the plans specials/handbooks or last year's 50th anniversary issue - they're not regular issues produced by the RCM&E team. Keith Simmons
Hi David. Many thanks and looking forward to seeing the special issue. My October copy did not arrive yesterday... Will check when I get home tonight.. .
Allan Bowker
David, I didn't get a copy of the special edition in my subscription last year either. I particularly remember not getting one as there was a short column in there by Chris Bott. In fact there is a picture in 'my photos' section of Jack holding it whilst we were in Cyprus last year. I got my October copy yesterday but I'm not allowing myself to peek at it until Tuesday next week when I'm off work for two weeks - woohoo! David Ashby - Moderator
Fair enough Allan, sorry to hear that, I can't say why that was...individual cases/hiccups perhaps yet I'll re-iterate just to reassure poeple that the Special Issue does go to subscribers and has done so now since they were introduced in 2006. Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Mine was waiting for me when I got home last night but I haven't opened it yet - for the opposite reason to Alan - too busy! I'll take it with me to the Nats over the weekend, I should get the opportunity to havea sit down and a read there! BEB
Vecchio Austriaco
Tim Hoopers latest creation - Cygnet - looks like a job to fill the dark winter evenings. May be I have a go at it if I can solve my still pending worksphop problem. Means I have to build a garden shed before the November issue brings sheet 3 of the plan... Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
What you need VA is a gardening magazine with a plan of a shed in! Then you could build the shed so that you could build the plan in RCM&E! You don't have to go far - maybe they could help you here BEB

Brian Cooper
The latest RCM&E mag dropped through my door a couple of days ago. It's amazing that a mag can be read from cover to cover but I never noticed it was the October issue ..... released in August. Hey-ho.... it's a great mag whatever the date says on the front cover. Vecchio Austriaco
BEB, not a problem of information - there is too much of information on the web - and all of the affordable workshops have very negative user comments... I just need to find the energy to start .... VA
FunnyFlyer
Usual quality offering but... I thought the long awaited Anatomy of a Trainer was a bit underwhelming - and a missed opportunity. Also - slap on the editors' wrists for the use of "aide" when it should be "aid". Apologies for this piece of anoraking. I thought Alex whittaker's piece on dressing up pilots was a great left field article. And, according to the editorial you are at last going to do some comparitive reviews. Nice one!
