Glenn Stratton
I've only ever glassed a wing join, so yes I would like to see how you go about doing a complete airframe Danny. Were you due a new Rotocraft? Now I see the canopy rail in place I see what you were saying!
Terry Walters
Hi Danny - I have used Poly 'C' before but not true glassing so would appreciate a step by step commentary. I am particularly looking forward to seeing how you tackle the straight edges of the fabric/skin joins. Best of luck! No pressure! Thanks again Danny, Terry

Charles Galloway
Yes please to a glassing workshop. Never used it before but this seems an ideal opportunity. I'm not too sure about trying a sliding canopy as well, may be pushing my luck! then again, I've never been totally happy with the way fixed canopies have looked either. Charles. Danny Fenton
And here is part 2, sorry this is only the second thing I have edited down so a bit rough. Taken longer than to do the glassing!! I will do the final part tomorrow evening Cheers Danny
Nev
That's very good thank you. I would have been slapping it on with a half inch paint brush. If you do the other side could you possibly show how to finish it off without the peel ply, that's maybe a step to far for me on this one. Sorry to be a pain and thanks again. Danny Fenton
Hi Nev, the procedure if you don't use peel ply is very similar but I can show it if you like? There are two ways you can go. Either primer straight on top of the glass finish, or you can add a flow coat of epoxy. The latter route means lots of elbow grease in sanding the epoxy, and in my experience is heavier for no extra strength. CheersDanny
Nev
Hi. It was the wiping it down with a credit card, to take off the excess that sounded risky. I've had look at your other vids and think I get the idea. I need to practice mixing and applying it on a bit of scrap first I think, to get a feel for it, thanks. Nev. Danny Fenton
Hi Nev, I will use the credit card technique on the tailplane and show you that process. However with practice you will find that you don't put as much on and therefore not as much is removed. But the process is the same and worth seeing I guess. The ply removal video is uploading to YouTube and will be online later Cheers Danny

john stones 1 - Moderator
Thanks a lot Danny That looks quite straight forward once seen done, look forward to my first go at it John
Dave Hopkin
Thanks for the video demo's Danny VERY useful, how different if the process with Poly-C? I imagine much the same.....
Danny Fenton
I have never bothered with PolyC as I do not see any advantages. If i am correct it is water based and can warp a structure if not sealed first. It also takes at least six coats to get to where I was after just ten minutes. Granted resin takes longer to dry. I think resin is harder and definitely hard lasting.I cannot see any advantages, epoxy doesnt really smell either.....CheersDanny
Tony Bennett
i am allergic to epoxy, makes me ill. so i have to limit myself to small doses.
Danny Fenton
Really Tony,That's a real pain. Is it the fumes (didn't think there were any?) or contact with the stuff? I must say you are the first I have heard of, I wonder how common the allergy is
Dave Hopkin
Its quite a common allergy, direct contact with epoxy resin can also trigger Psoriasis which is a right royal pain in the proverbial Edited By Dave Hopkin on 22/12/2014 15:50:
