Les Turrall
I,ve just been to buy some more of my favourite Wildcat 10% brew, only to find that the price has been racked up from £12.09p to well over £17.00 in less than two weeks!!! This is for an Americn gallon. Can anyone throw any light on this rip off other than my suppliers excuse that it is due to the price of Nitro and does anyone know of a reliable supplier within a reasonagle distance of Coventry? My thanks in advance Les Turrall

Martin McIntosh
Why buy Yankee fuel? Nothing wrong with ModelTechnics or Southern modelcraft. Unless I am wrong, 20% is about £21 or £16 respectively. Surely with the Dollar where it is the price should have gone down?

Andy Green
I heard somewhere that there is a world shortage of Nitro, not confirmed but it might explain a sudden price rise. Andy
Toby Cross
Hiya Les, I to have heard that Nitro is going up in price but that would not explain a £5 cost increase in 2 weeks! Being a solid believer in Southern model craft fuel I thouraghly respect your wish to stick with the same brand. If it works for you don't change it! However, if southern model craft do an eqivalent it would be worth buying a gallon or half to try it. You can ring them on 01732 350691. They are based in tonbridge in Kent. They were at Weston Park and judging by the amount of business they did i reckon they will be at Cossford as well. The best bit is they are very reasonable priced. Good luck with your above question, see you at the field. Toby
Brian Hammond
I,ve been using Southern Modelcraft fuel for must be 20 years now and really trust it.Brian.
Les Turrall
Hi Toby/ Brian/@Andy. Thankyou very much for for your helpful advice and information. I will explore the route you have suggested which hopefully will keep my fuel expenditure at a reasonable level. Bye Bye Wildcat!!!! Les Turrall. Frank Skilbeck
I use Southern Model Craft synthetic oil fuels, straight in my two strokes and 10% in an ASP 91 FS, works well. I always stock up at the model show
Aussie Bob
Switch to petrol! It is 1/10th the price of glow fuel but you don't have an excuse to go to the hobby shop.
Tom Sharp
if you wanted to run on cheap fuel you should have been around in the Jim Davis era
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Another vote from Southern Modelcraft fuel from me....excellent stuff......bought some at Weson & noted my usual brew (15% synthetic oil, 2% Castor 5% Nitro) had gone up from £8.50 last year to £10 this......hardly going to break the bank but quite an increase percentagewise...... Les Turrall
my thanks to everyone who responded to this thread. your information has been useful. Pity no Trade response however, which would have provided an authoritative point of view. Still C'est la Vie.
Peter Miller
You have to be joking "Ether from the Chemist" They haven't been allowed to stock it for years. I use Model Technics fuels but have used Southern Model Craft. Couldn't tell any difference in performance or starting.
Peter Miller
I meant to say that they are not even allowed to ship model diesel fuel. The shop owner has to go an collect it. I was told that by a model shop owner when I bought a can of D2000.And a pint of that cost £6. That works out at £48 a gallon!!!
