john stones 1 - Moderator
Mine will be lecky, and as I already have some gubbins at hand i'll be using them. here's what I have SK3 3548 1050kv ..60amp Plush esc...3300 mah lipo prop we'll decide on later with ground clearance and wattmeter. So that's my set up, I'm sure there'll be quite a few different ones and they'll all be O.K John
john stones 1 - Moderator
No pictures yet, I've only cut parts out so far. Will be a fuzz mounted u/c and will be built up tail/fin, why ? so I can use up some of offcuts I have, and I like the open structure showing through the covering, either Solartex or the translucent H.K film. john stones 1 - Moderator
Few of t/plane and elevator, l/e of t/plane done with 1/8 laminate strips and rear of elevator will be 1/16 strips, I'm gonna lock the spars in with 1/16 infils. Levanter
Nice work John. I like the laminates going into the tip and especially the fore and aft ribs
Peter Miller
I always find that diagonal strips between the ribs help reduce twisting and warping
john stones 1 - Moderator
Yes Levanter going to the tip gave more glue area. Will be fitting 1/4 x 1/8 braces Peter, little weight for extra strength. John
john stones 1 - Moderator
First strip on t/e, will add 2 more on outer then infills to lock spars in John
john stones 1 - Moderator
Little more done on elevators, I shall add some 1/8 behind l/e for strength/hinges and the cross braces also. John

Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
That's taking shape John. At this rate I think I will be the only person with a sheet tailplane! BEB
john stones 1 - Moderator
I figured as you only need to follow the outline of the plan to build the sheet tail end BEB, new builders would have no problem with doing it, so I used up some of my off cuts on mine, I see nothing wrong with a sheet one, apart from I would've had to buy some John W.F has done a sheet one
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
well just to be different I'm going to make an inflatable holographic one BEB
Martyn K
I will be using a built up tail as well - but different again.. One point, I have folded 2 tail-planes in the past couple of years (in flight). I would be inclined to add a 1/16" ply brace about 8" long butted against the TE (inside edge) if you can get it in without hacking it to much Nice work John Martyn
