Martin McIntosh
Never heard of mixing screen wash with paint before. Where did that idea come from?
Martian
somewhere in the annals of this forum Martin although I only use it on gloss acrylics myself I use ordinary tap water with Valspar matt it sprays ok
Geoff Gardiner
I got a bit of flying in on Saturday and took advantage of the weather to paint the camouflage on Sunday and today. The method that I tried this time was to cut a mask and use rolled up masking tape to hold it off the surface a bit. This gave a feathered edge effect. More later... Broken Prop
It looks good Geoff. I have not seen the rolled up sticky tape technique before, but it appears to be very effective. Keep posting! Pete

Geoff Gardiner
This is the way I paint using masks: 1. Cut mask using my vinyl cutter and apply. 2. Paint edges with corresponding colour to prevent bleed. 3. Paint top colour. 4. Carefully peel off the mask. I had a bit of an oops moment when the wing fell off the table and damaged the corner. Out with the filler. More later...
Geoff Gardiner
Not much to show for half a day tinkering today. I have cut out the remaining horns and sorted the servo bearers. More later...

Mike Beard 1
That's funny. When I realized you were using some kind of cutter and went looking. This is the one that I found! Have not purchased yet but it seems to be a great tool for the shop! Thanks! Can you cut lettering in vinyl to stick on a plane also? Instead of creating a template to paint "through"? Geoff Gardiner
Yes, it will cut vinyl decals - in fact it will cut all sorts of paper, card, vinyl - even fabric (I have only used it to cut paint masks so far). I think it is a good piece of kit for the price.

Geoff Gardiner
Thanks Martian. Today's job is to put it on the CofG tester and see if I can get it balanced with just battery, ESC and receiver positioning. Has yours flown yet? Geoff...
