Andy Meade
Hello again guys and gals, As has started to be some sort of custom (have done it for the last 3 years I guess), I shall be attempting a slope session on the last day of this year, and the first day of 2018 - all of course weather permitting. A clear go / no-go will be posted here for both days. Last year, NYE we were on the Orme in stunning conditions, with NYD on the Cloud in some not so great conditions, but we flew both days nonetheless. Over the Christmas break I shall be in north Wales, so what better place to aim for, than the Great Orme? Blast that turkey and stuffing out of your body with the PSSA - sport and scale of course welcome as always. Sign up below, and we'll bring the bacon for slopeside butties. Phil Cooke
Excellent - glad to see this plan hatched once again - fingers crossed we get the conditions!! I'll certainly be there for one of the two days, wherever we end up - most likely NYD as we tend to have plans with family on NYE. Remember last year when you lot were smashing massive PSS conditions at the Orme and sending me annoying texts whilst I was at a ballerina event with my young daughter!?? Epic fail. Better go renew my BMFA insurance so its all above board come 1st Jan!
Alan Gorham_
Yes please - was hoping you would announce for this year! PS Andy - did I see in another thread that you have the moulds for the ex-LMC Gnatty and Hawk fuselages?
Andy Meade
Phil - good point - everyone please make sure their insurance is in place as always. Alan - that's correct. Hopefully next year I'll do a small run of Hawk fuselages, with some drawings for the wing arrangement. I've got a couple of projects to get out the way first though
Flyer
I'm a possible for NYE. Cheers Ade
Alan Gorham_
Andy - I will definitely sign up for a Hawk and I would like a Gnatty so I can gracefully retire my 32 year old example. I'll bother you next summer about the Hawk!
Harry Twist
Hi All, I'm up for this - NYD most definitely with NYE a possibility!

Andy Meade
Glad to see the interest guys, many thanks. Chris...oh, go on then
Peter Miller
No Slopes round here but I do have a wheat field right in front of the house. I plan to leave my Sport Cub by the back door with a battery in it and the Tx and, weather permitting I hope to dive out at about 7.30 on New Years day and have a quick flight. I did it a few years ago with an electric glider.
Andy Meade
One of the good lady wife's pics from December last year - catching a lovely shot of John Hey's A4 "punching tanks"
Tim Mackey
Im in for NYD 👍🏻 A few new models to maiden too😀
Phil Cooke
Watching the weather carefully on the final run up, for a while now NYE looks to be the better of the two days as it looks to move W and NW on NYD according to XC weather - bringing some rain with it too... I'm seriously thinking about changing my plans at home to enable a trip on the better of the 2 days - NYE looks very promising for some good PSS flying with solid SWerlies and sunny spells! Denis Watkins
High winds are guaranteed But a couple of storms are waiting in the Atlantic
Alan Gorham_
Is it go, or no-go? Forecast still looks canny for NYE?
Andy Meade
NYE so far still a go, NYD probably not so much, but would leave it up to your own discretion
Phil Cooke
yeah tomorrow's looking pretty good, so I've changed my plans and I'll be there to join you in the morning Andy, not NYD as I has originally planned. All loaded here and ready to go, see you for 9am on the hill. Who else is in??
Phil Cooke
The morning session in particular might even be pretty good for the cameras with some sunshine and broken cloud - due to be overcast by lunch so lets make the most of the early conditions! Harry Twist
Hi All, I'm still planning for NYD ! Hopefully getting down there 9-9.30am. Apols - cant make NYE. If anyone is there NYD - I'll see you there!
Chris Barlow
Charging here too ready for tomorrow. Should be there about 9:00-9:30. If the past couple of days are anything to go by it might be an early finish due to poor light! Been looking forward to it.
Flyer
Have a great day lads, unfortunately I wont be there. May the lift be strong, and look forward to seeing you all in 2018 Ade
Phil Cooke
Was a superb days flying today, great to see all those who could make it, there's more flying planned tomorrow too for those who got a NYD pass! Ill post some piccies soon, we flew from 9am until 3:15pm with an hours break at 1pm for a heavy rain shower, but once that passed through we were left with some gorgeous conditions! As usual a lovely selection of PSS models on show! Happy New Year to all!
Harry Twist
Hi All, Happy New Year to everyone. Just thought I would add to Phils' post from NYE - we had what sounds like a similar day today - NYD! Very sunny start- flying by 9.30 with booming lift 25-30mph, flying until around 12.30pm with- an hour of heavy rain (where we hid and chewed the fat) - then cloud but no rain and even stronger lift - so we managed more flying but with occasional showers. The flying ended by being totally rained off around 3pm. Lots of flying done by most people by then though! Good selection of PSS models flying plus some sports flying also. Picture attached of the pits around 11am, off my phone - sorry for the poorish quality! Regards H Edited By Harry Twist on 01/01/2018 23:39:
Chris Walby
Nice day for flying so batted the Carbon Yak around once and the re-maiden the Speed Air since its conversion to IC Four flights with the Speed Air (four clicks of up elevator) and no problems with the Laser (easy starting and faultless running throughout), I could get to used to this easy IC flying lark!
