Denis Watkins
Search too the long discussions about 4.8v and 6v packs The required Rx and servo voltages, all on this site Edited By Denis Watkins on 08/01/2018 15:43:
Denis Watkins
Start here Niall **LINK** Then do a search on this site about Nimhs My own sports models have 1000mah due to stronger, thicker internals
Frank Skilbeck
It more depends on the model, on my larger models I use sub C Nimh (usually 5 cell) or 2s Life, on smaller models then 2s Life or AA Nimh (4 or 5 cell)
Martyn K
Moving to 2S LiPo and HV servos for larger models. The remainder are 4.8 or 6V (where speed is required) NiMh Martyn

Niall Reynolds
I have had issues running spektrum gear on 4.8 bolts so I have all 6v now.All standard s3003 or f148 servos.
Denis Watkins
They can be expensive Frank, say £18, but the electrolyte is twice as thick as a 2000 You probably know that they roll up the electrolyte in an AA cell, and at 1000 they get more in thicker My 1000s last years, and I got 2 from airtek who are out of stock at the moment, but worth a call **LINK** Just checked, 6v 1000 in stock, £16, Just 4.8v out of stock So much easier to charge 1000 too, more efficient use than taking 300ma from a 2000 during a days flying Edited By Denis Watkins on 08/01/2018 17:26:
Martin Harris - Moderator
2S LiFe for me (unless I can find any more NOS NiCds for sensitive servos).
Gary Manuel
I've just ordered Zippy Flightmax 2100mAh 30C 2S LiFePO4's from Hobbyking after spending quite a while pondering the same question. Just make sure that all the servos are good for nominal 6V operation. Edited By Gary Manuel on 08/01/2018 19:08:

john stones 1 - Moderator
Which is similar to Nimhs and why you use plenty mah for your tx pack.

Martin Harris - Moderator
Just top up your LiFe batteries before a session - they can be charged at high rates and don't take as many mAh as a 4S Nixx battery for the same amount of flying time - plus there's negligible self discharge...
