cymaz
Purchase several cheap magnet trays...a small one is a godsend in the flying field.
Brian Hammond
Get a worn out microwave from the tip and remove the magnet from the magnetron, they are very strong and useful for finding dropped items. Be very careful when dismantling a microwave as they can hold a charge if thrown away recently!

Bruce Collinson
Cheap set on bits for the field, amazing how often somebody needs them but no one has them. They do often have a small battery drill for doing up wing bolts.

Geoff Peacock
Posted by supertigrefan on 21/08/2018 17:24:22: …...magnetise the tips of your screw drivers to help with those teeny screws and hard to get at fixings. You can do this simply by attaching a small magnet direct to the shaft of the screwdriver.

Stuphedd
This should be in the humour section but the guy is "dead "serious . I was recently asked to test fly an oldish P51 lookalike "thing " Its owner stated that he had read that it was prone to tip stalling , but he had cured that problem by cutting 6" off each of them .! So in the "hints and Tips" section , this must come pretty near the top . Before you ask , I declined on the basis it was too windy ! The tubs make great containers for anything.
Old Geezer
Broken props as an alternative to lolly sticks for mixing and applying Epoxy. The business cards that restaurants etc. supply [2-3 on every table] to mix small amounts of epoxy on. An old LiFe pack to power your starter [4S 3000 so plenty of grunt], similarly a tired puffed 3S LiPo pack [2200 seems adequate] to power the fuel pump - thin crocodile clips fit in the 'oles in an XT60, if you can't be bothered to solder up a sensible connection set up. No need to ever buy or lug about another heavy Lead Acid leisure battery
Bob Cotsford
Strip the magnets out of dead motors, perfect for canopy attachment, sticking on your screwdriver or just keeping Grandkids amused. Plastic pet treat pots - base for mixing laminating resin or paint, top for 30 minute epoxy. If you retain flight batteries with velcro keep a strip of thin plastic handy to use as a tongue to separate the velcro when changing batteries. Much easier than trying to lever the battery free.
