jeff2wings
Another one of my long running re-build projects (like 4 years ) so time too finish it off and fly (or sell it off ?) This was one of my optimistic fea bay purchases along with a magnatilla with a Enya 41 4s ,that on closer inspection in the the workshop turn out to be total bin fodder ! Oh well, always up for banging my head agents a brick wall a challenge me. This is far as I got with the fuz,the whole model was covered with nylon and dope that came off without too much trouble apart from the coulor coat remaining in a few places.Made a repair around the tail and made new elevators and rudder with lighter wood and different shape, added a hatch for the tank and Rx batt. HobbyKing film used The wings needed a lot of prep work,4 years of sitting in rafters of my workshop means they need some more ! the skin has split in places so need to fix that before covering . martin collins 1
Love to see a cheap used buy brought back to life and put back in the air.............
jeff2wings
Not so cheep when 50% ends up as land fill I keep saying this is the last time that I'm doing this ('till the next time) I find the best way too deal with the splits is to inlay a strip of wood and then carefully sand flush
Nigel R
Watching, I like the bi fly design. A UK classic. Wish SLEC still kitted them, like they do with some of the other Precedent designs.
Denis Watkins
These were a brilliant build, the 25 and the 48, and sturdy too, suitable even for a novice bipeflyer Flying was stable underpower, very enjoyable and looked good in the air but both disliked dead sticks, loosing height fairly quickly Edited By Denis Watkins on 01/01/2019 21:16:
Stuart Quinn-Harvie 1
Looking superb there! I had one a few years back, the 25 size - so I put a .42 in it (Obviously) it flew really well - my first REALLY aerobatic model. Lovely spins and yes, not keen on gliding. Another vote for SLEC re releasing it. Edited By Stuart Quinn-Harvie 1 on 03/01/2019 01:14:
Nigel R
Few biplanes are good gliders, it just keeps with the type overall. The 25 was overbuilt, and needed a diet - or very very careful wood choice, better probably than the average kitter could afford to make... the 40 can carry the weight better, it has acres of wing area. That aside, it was a good 'un, for sure.

Nigel R
Would love a scan or copy of the plan if its possible. The web is - unusually - without a trace of plans for either size of the bi fly.
Nigel R
Somewhat coincidentally, in the absolute dead calm air, this was what I flew at lunchtime today: Battery is a squeeze, but it goes in: About 450W on a 10x5.

Handyman
It's got to be the 80s HP gold cup engine, it looks made for it.
john stones 1 - Moderator
Nah, Webra for me. That's very good Jeff, cracking camera you have.
jeff2wings
I think the Webra is one the best of the cross-flow scavenged engines, along with the O.S Max 61 H ,it's that or one of the HP's I think, as they will drop in with no mod's to the wood beam bearers . jeff2wings
O.K. so in the end decided on the HP silver star, I'll have to find something a bit more fitting for the gold cup ! just need a silencer to fit don't you just love the small servos you can get now ?
