Keith Orr 1
Hi Again, Bought a second hand Futaba T6EX 2.4ghz, lovely clean condition, along with linked receiver. I set up the receiver in my new model, which is unfinished, to test, switched on the transmitter, switched on the receiver and all worked as should. I read that when moving receiver to new model it is worth reseting the transmitter ref, say Modl 1, to factory settings, this I did and to my disappointment when I switch on as above the ESC emits a beep, then another beep with double beep, then beep with triple beep, etc etc, the transmitter operates the two servos as normal but not the electric motor. What am I doing wrong, any help gratefully received
Jonathan W
Try reversing the throttle channel. For safety, remove the propeller while you are doing these checks.
Denis Watkins
On the reset Keith, the throttle may be reversed. High throttle makes the ESC inoperative for safety Reverse and trim down the throttle, then try again Jon beat me to it Edited By Denis Watkins on 05/02/2020 20:19:
Jon H
if reversing the throttle dosent fix it then make sure the trim is all the way down.
Trevor Crook
My money is on throttle reversing too - I think Futaba's throttle direction is reversed relative to most other brands, so you have to change it for most esc's.
Keith Orr 1
Absolutely spot on, all fixed. Thank you all for your input, I am much obliged.
Simon Chaddock
Keith Orr 1 Still a useful learning experience. 1. Futaba throttle works opposite to all most other Tx. Remember it you will probably come across it again. 2. "If it ain't broke don't fix it".
Keith Orr 1
Good advice Simon, thank you. Still havent resolved the issue with my Hitec Optic 6 Sport 2.4 ghz, all I am getting from Hitec is that it could be a faulty module and can't seem to find out how to repair or replace (it getting the feeling that because its a "budget" transmitter there is not much interest, maybe cost of doing anything about it would be relatively expensive??, so, if anyone has further ideas on that one please let me know. ken anderson.
hello again Keith, buying 2nd hand is ok/ish if you know the seller...other than that be careful...also when setting up and getting to know your radio...take off the prop from an electric set up or you will damage your carol singers-fingers(well and truly) should the setting be wrong and the motor springs into life.....and it wont stop even when it hits anything.....hope you haven't given up on the hitec. ken anderson....ne..1..carol singers dept. Be aware that Futabe exponential sttings are reversed from other makes.Futaba use negetive ( - )expo for soft center on sticks while JR and I believe Spectrum use (+) positive expo for softer center movements. Get it wrong and you could have an exciting flight
Keith Orr 1
Morning, Thanks again for all of your comments, very helpful. I now have the Futaba working as should, the Hitec operates the first model but refuses to go into link mode so can only operate with the first model, bit inconveint but will do for the time being. By the way, I did speak to Mike, thanks, and also Geoff at Perkins, both came to the conclusion that the module is faulty, Geoff gave me a indication of cost to repair/replace the module, so I now have options. I like the feel of the Futaba so may well go down the road of replacing the receiver in the first model so that both are on the Futaba, neater.
