Scammer Alert - Personal Messages

The mods will no doubt be looking into it, but just in case any early risers get caught out before then please watch out if you receive a PM from someone that you don't know, alerting you to the "fact" that you might have missed a post by another person you don't know of about an item you have a Wanted ad up for. The message directs you to an email to get in touch with that person - in my case it was mikescott(randomnumber)@gmail.com. I searched for that email and it's a known scammer using the same MO on multiple forums.

My advice if you receive such a message is to ignore it and just report it to the mods.

Here's a couple of links to reports of scams associated with that email address.

One on a musical instrument site

https://www.strat-talk.com/threads/scammer-smart332.583547/

and another on an Alfa Romeo enthusiasts site

https://www.alfabb.com/threads/alert-seller-scam.710767/page-4

There are quite a few more alerts out there - same email address [email protected], but a variety of fake forum user IDs, characterised by being new sign ups with zero posts and all using the same basic technique.
