leccyflyer
The mods will no doubt be looking into it, but just in case any early risers get caught out before then please watch out if you receive a PM from someone that you don't know, alerting you to the "fact" that you might have missed a post by another person you don't know of about an item you have a Wanted ad up for. The message directs you to an email to get in touch with that person - in my case it was mikescott(randomnumber)@gmail.com. I searched for that email and it's a known scammer using the same MO on multiple forums. My advice if you receive such a message is to ignore it and just report it to the mods.
leccyflyer
Here's a couple of links to reports of scams associated with that email address. One on a musical instrument site https://www.strat-talk.com/threads/scammer-smart332.583547/ and another on an Alfa Romeo enthusiasts site https://www.alfabb.com/threads/alert-seller-scam.710767/page-4 There are quite a few more alerts out there - same email address [email protected], but a variety of fake forum user IDs, characterised by being new sign ups with zero posts and all using the same basic technique. Masher
Thanks for this post, I got the message too. Fortunately it is obviously a scam. Unfortunately, I could find no way of reporting it to a moderator other than starting a thread as you have done
leccyflyer
If you click on the three wee dots on the top right hand corner of the PM you get the option to report the message to the moderators.
