aidan mcatamney
Looking forward very much Toto to the construction of the Tiger 60. I just love the Tiger 40 in the way that it flys and you should have a solid flying aircraft on your hands when the time comes.

leccyflyer
That battery looks to be at slightly less than storage voltage.
toto
Hmmmmmmm ........ I'm obviously not understanding batteries very well. the second battery gives a reading of 95% charged ....... hows that .... ???? toto

leccyflyer
A fully charged 6s1p battery should be just over 25v - 6x4.2v/cell. Your pack that is at 22.30v off load is at around 3.72v/cell, just below what is generally taken as storage voltage, or cited as the nominal voltage for the pack. toto
Time I studied the finer points of battery charging. Toto
Peter Jenkins
Reading percentage charged is not as accurate as reading the voltage and better still the per cell voltage. I suspect we are back to the issue of having too low a kv for the motor Toto. But see how things go with a fully charged pack first.
toto
Tyats weird, It's a .60 sized motor as per the instructions and as supplied at the time of puchase. Who or what do you listen to ? Toto
leccyflyer
Toto - maybe just put this one to one side until later and concentrating on enjoying your flying for the weekend on using the model that you have now got sorted out. It's a braw morning up here, likely the same for you - make the most of it, while we've got this flying weather. The Phoenix will still be there in the week and can be sorted later - Peter is right though, 410kv indicates a motor that will need to use a relatively large prop on that cell count- 15" or bigger is likely. Learner
Your getting on the motorway without ever driving before. With your experience You should only buy models youve actually seen at your club fly with a set up suitable for the plane, your ability and the availability of hands on advice. Your on your 5th model ? with 10 more in stock, most beginners would still be on there first.
aidan mcatamney
This is what I have on my 60 size electric plane and it flys it great with a 6s 5000 lipo. Have the plane 5 years now and still going strong with absolutely no problems.
leccyflyer
What size prop are you flying the Eflite Power 60 BL with Aiden?
aidan mcatamney
15x8 apc electric prop leccyflyer.
leccyflyer
Which illustrates Toto's issue with the motor - as Peter said, at 410kv it's going to need more than a 14" prop. Your Eflite Power 60 is 470kv and working well with a 15x8" prop.
Peter Jenkins
It's all to do with gearing. A car in fifth gear will not work well if you try and pull away in that gear. If you only want to do 30 mph, 2nd gear is great as the acceleration is acceptable and your top speed of 30 mph will be achieved flat out = high kv. If you want to go faster, change gear to a higher one = reduce the kv. It's not an exact analogy but it serves to illustrate the point. EarlyBird
The motor will come with a collet style adapter that will need the shaft reversing. I have done this many times without problem. Easy to loosen the grub screws and tap the shaft through. BTW the collet style is my preferred adapter.
