Stuart McCavera (Giantstu)
The spit at sunset is my favourite.. a cracking shot. I may have to upload some myself..
Alan B
Is the link from the photographic competition page to this one working? This page is unavailable from my end. PS. I agree as well - the spit at sunset is a nice shot
Phil Winks
Is there a quality requirement David ie min Mp of camera etc.? as apposed to being in focus of course.
David Ashby - Moderator
No Phil, although at least 4mp for reproduction in the magazine but I assume most cameras easily surpass that these days? Other than that and as you say, obviously a shot that's out of focus won't win as will a shot with a model sat on the lawn with the washing line in the background....that sort of thing. I'll check the links Alan.
Tim Hooper
Agree about the Spittie in the embers of the sun; lovely! Slight prob with the rules is that I always get a mate to photograph my models in flight, as I find it hard to manage a tx in one hand and a camera in the other...... tim
Jonathan Lewzey
there's already a photoshop entry despite the rules
Ernie
Hi David, Re. photoshop, If it's done well, i'ts very difficult to detect, but I'm sure none of the guys would cheat. Why not have a 'manipulated' category Finally, here's a pic of an old plane that passed over the Gironde a few weeks ago It was quite high up, but I think its a Henry Farman 111 ernie
Stuart McCavera (Giantstu)
Photoshopping soon shows up in a photo's Exif data, it will tell you when it was modified. If you open the photo in photoshop, you can even see how it was altered.
Andy Ramsay
A 4mp minimum David but is there a max. I've just uploaded a 9mp, is this excessive and will I also burst my album space allocation with a few more?
David Ashby - Moderator
Jonathan - it'll be immediately disqualified when we decide the winner. Ernie - agreed but we have designers here in the office who know photoshop inside out so we'll check with them (as you say Stu it can be detected). Andy - No maximum. Hugh Coleman
And there I was thinking I had a winning shot... Clive Moores shots are lovely. Clive, can you tell us more about your BE2? Cheers, Hugh
A Collins
The standard of photos submitted so far is excellent, It almost puts me off having a go! I feel sorry for the judges, this will be a tough one to decide.
Mike Denholm
Will posting small file size pics in the competition be penilised, I have reduced all of mine from around 4 or 5 megs to +-500kb for uploading speed and access? Mike
David Ashby - Moderator
No problem Mike, just as long a you can send us the big files if you place 1,2 or 3.
Mike Denholm
That will be no problem at all. Cheers Mike
Phil Winks
The winners already been posted in my humble opinion I'll eat my tiger moth if that shot of the 1st flight of the day doesn't place in the top 3 that's the sort of shot I used to dream of in my proffesional days. (regimental press photographer and gen dogsbody in my army days) well done 2 wings the shot of the texan aginst the sky aint half bad too Edited By Phil Winks on 03/05/2009 18:23:
Peter Miller
That Spitfire at sunset. YES. I have a limited edition print Of a Spitfire over the Thames in a similar light, nearly the same angle. signed by the artist Timothy O'Brien and Alex Henshaw. My favourite picture. So this one really hits the spot.
Alex Leigh
Some lovely pics there. The Spit is the most atmospheric. The Hucklow pictures brought back memories. My dad used to fly there, and I spent about every weekend from being 1 to about 15 at that site!

Mike Denholm
One thing is really obvious in all these entries, there's certainly lots of fun had by all. Ok with the exception of the crash and burn pics.
Vagelis Chalkiadakis
As this contest combines both rc modelling and photography (my favourite hobbies, I have a really large number of photos I have taken during our activities. I have submitted a lot of my photos, hopping that this is not a problem. I hope you like them.
