  2. Here's my scratch built Cessna GC-1, a not so famous 1929 air racer. It spans 1.57 meters, is powered by a Saito 72 and weighs 3 kg. I built it for the controlline events I visit once a year to compete in Scale and in Basic Carrier Deck flying - a nice diversion from my RC flying. The throttle is controlled by 2.4mhz RC, covering is hobbyking film, and it has sprung landing gear. Maiden flight soon. Karl-Georg

  3. I haven't built from a kit in over 30 years, mostly ARTF's and foamies, but now time's are a changing with this new project. I will try to take some pics along the way but be advised it won't be a fast build.

  4. Engines are both in good condition with smooth bearings, o-rings are fine (and i do have spares), think these engines are just very sensitive to idle needle settings. Fuel is also fresh. Think i will stick to OS engines in future

  5. Sounds like the down thrust is built into the design in that case. Kim

  7. Jon, you are over thinking it. It's a model of a historical aeroplane just like an ME109 or whatever, not a support for a cause good or bad. If you flew an ME109 with a swastika you are not showing support for the nazi party. Go for it, fly your La7 and entertain us. Phil

  8. I've just joined this club....... kit ordered from Richard for building once I've finished my Phoenix Chipmunk. Now to read this thread through- although I've probably read it all piecemeal, as it was posted, it'll be my go to resource if I need a helping hand and an inspiration for detailing, etc. More as & when............. 14. Actually brake wear should be less due to the regenerative braking putting charge back in the battery, so the brake pads don't see as much use as in an IC car. But yes the heavier weight will increase road wear, but then again everybody seems to want to drive round in a big heavy SUV.

  15. I went to look a the new Gridserve Norwich electric forecourt at the weekend (the grandkids wanted to see it), most impressive. Now if they can keep building those around the country then things will be on the up regarding charging stations. TBH it made me have another look at EVs having previously thought about the Hyundai Ionic 5 but as they had a Kia EV6 at Gridserve I had a good look around that, from the same 'stable' as the Ionic but a smidge better value for money imo. But then it's still quite a lump of cash at £45K so have decided to wait for another year to see what other models will be unveiled (got to wait 12 months for the EV6 anyway!). Ford seem to be a bit behind the curve with only the Mustang available and the start of their new range not hitting production until next year, Hyundai have also promised further models in an Ionic range to join the 5 and I suspect they will have them before Ford.

  16. Thanks Andy, it's reassuring to hear that I may be able to purchase the Multiphase plan direct from Chris. I've done as you suggested and left a message and also sent an SAE for a possible reply by 'snail mail'. During the late 70's and up until the early 90's I flew regularly from the Sussex slopes and also at the then thermal comps. Chris was often competing too. I remember flying 'against' him at the 'Long Man Trophy' slope event, not that I could hold a candle to his superb aerobatic display ability!! Thanks again for the encouragement, I really would like to attempt to complete and fly the Multiphase if only just for the memories that it will evoke of past happy flying days.? Best wishes Christopher (SW)

  17. Just thought I would add a flying shot to finish this blog. The sharp eyed amongst you may notice that she lost a spinner during this flight but I did manage to find it in the grass on the edge of the field. Also she was flying with the gear down as I forgot to take my air pump with me!

  18. Hi Started to unbox items, all items are superbly packaged no chance of damage, the fus. very impressive its a composite structure laminated with ply and carbon. Front firewall all been made out of carbon and ply very nice. This looks like Blackhorse have upped their game on kit manufacture.
