  1. Also, your house insurance might be invalid if you go the Heath Robinson route. Electrical goods have a IEE rating and if this catches or causes a fire, then your house insurance will find it easy not to pay out. The OP has realized that it is best to buy a charger, and can't think or a reason why anyone would even contemplate this!!! Why? Electrical Appliances Standard Year Description BS 1362 1973 Specification for general purpose fuse links for domestic and similar purposes (primarily for use in plugs) BS 1363 Parts 1 -5 1995 - 2008 13 A plugs, socket-outlets and adaptors. BS EN 60335, Many parts   Specification for safety of household and similar electrical appliances This happened nearby when a own build/modified battery charger caught fire, insurance never paid out, lost his home and imagine how much this would cost to rectify?£60,000, for the sake of £20?  Edited By Paul Marsh on 03/08/2020 11:07:07
  2. something like this. surely £29 isn't too bad, and safer as well... charger
  3. Can't you get a charger which is mains and 12v powered as well. bought them from swap meets for £5, even new are about £50.
  4. I normally don't use them, as long as the surfaces are tight, never got any leaks. I do have loads if them spare, anyway.
  5. Looking to do it on 6th September any traders let me know, Its outside so weather dependent.
  6. Which one is it, the electric balsa version? Cubs are not the trainer models one would think, although high wing, the elevator is sensitive and will stall quite nasty is provoked.
  7. A guy was flying his Trex 700 electric heli at the field a couple of days ago. he doesn't use a switch for the rx, but an arming xt60 connector. Sometime in the flight, the heli was flashing. He had one of the battery backers from Optipower fitted and the plug came out, luckily he has the opto unit, which saved the day. Whatever you do, sods law takes over, so the investment for the backer was a wise one. imagine a 700 heli at full chat going out of control.
  8. I go the Leek Car boot most Sundays and noticed there is quite a bit of space extra. As most indoor events are cancelled, what will the interest of running a swapmeet with the car boot? I spoke to the organizer and he is okay with that. there is food on site, ice cream and hand santisers available. If enough interest, I would ideally need 10 vendors and enough feedback to go ahead. Can drive to your pitch and just need tables. As for cost not sure, but is around the same as a normal swapmeet. What do you think?
  9. The Saito 182 TD is just over 1kg in weight, the OS 120 AX is 647g, without muffler, which weighs around 300g. so its the same. even a few grams on this size won't make a difference, in fact weight on the front end is needed anyway, instead of adding weights.
  10. Great, make sure it doesn't clash with the Newark event on the b/h weekend, and I will be there.
  11. Why don't you buy another TX anyway, say you can't afford one, but they are fairly cheap, now and just put it on credit card. You are not flying because of it, and not put all your eggs in one basket. I have several tx's of many makes, and if one goes down, I have another. For example, have a spare DX6 just in case the main one goes down. As for Ripmax, can't say, but seems they are a shadow of their former self. (Spektrum had problems until fairly recently), but seems to be sorted out.
  12. I've used them before, can't think of any problems.
  13. Probably the 10-15 working days is the time, that anything starts to get done, ie. when someone is bothered to start the order, leading to a 6 month delivery time... Nah, stay clear, never used them, never will, according to the feedback...
  14. Black Horse P40, 91 four stroke. using the mechanical retracts for now, see how they go.
  15. New radios don't do the dsm2 protocol, so a new radio won't work on dsm2 rx's, but a old radio will work on dsm-x rx's as the rx will roll back to dsm2.
  16. No, slide it over the needle and screw it down. Even new engines I do this.
  17. Put some fuel tube round the needle, cut about 4mm ring and slide it on.
  18. Mine is registered, so I will not install a 3rd part firmware flash outside of Spektrum Community site.
  19. The last upgrade was Feb 2014, and my radio had been done to that. So where is the latest firmware?
  20. Actually, I had that on last week with a G1 DX8 and the AR410 rx. Seems to take longer to rebind on a power down check, and have to cycle the power sometimes. I rebound the model on the DX9 and flew it. So probably need to update the DX8 as only started using it again, so probably needs updating. Maybe the G1 DX8 is not totally compatible, as most models using the newer rx's are on the DX9 and DX18.   Edited By Paul Marsh on 21/07/2020 21:55:19
