  1. Toto, is there any shear webs to go between the spars? It would usually be fitted before the capstrips.
  2. I use a 2s lipo in my Hitec Aurora, I cut the old connector off the original Nimh pack and soldered it onto the lipo not forgetting to go into settings and change the battery type to Lipo. I remove the pack for charging. I'm with Ken on this one, it does sound like a lack of power issue. I hope you get it sorted as they are nice transmitters, just a pity Hitec pulled out of making them.
  3. You have to pay to read it....
  4. Good positive comments so far 👍 Yes the hobby/sport is evolving but let's embrace the changes and keep moving forward. If you don't like it do something else.
  5. Oh no, not another gloom and doom thread. Give it a rest, enjoy the hobby.
  6. They call them 321 blocks, 1" X 2" X 3" in size but metric ones are available now. The idea is you can bolt several of them together if needed for work holding on a machine tool. Bit of a sacreledge using a precision block for a weight, but needs must.
  7. Last year I built. Veron mini-Robot from the Outerzone plan, only 36" span but with a little electric motor it's a hoot to fly http://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=10900
  8. I'm enjoying mine. Kevin is doing a great job 🙂 Although I would like to see more alternative models like cars and bikes that used to appear years ago.
  9. There was a discussion on this very forum recently about wether to self tap or drill clearance holes for plastic engine mounts. Turns out it's a very Marmite subject with some strong opinions. Nylon engine-mounts: self-tappers or through-bolts?
  10. A gyro is never going to correct an aerodynamic flaw, the model has to fly correctly before connecting a gyro. A rate gyro will only dampen out unwanted movement like that would be caused by for instance turbulence.
  11. The best thing to do is put the smallest prop on and use your Wattmeter to check the Amps, if it's within specification try the bigger props to make sure none of them overload the motor. If all ok then go and fly trying the different props that you have in the knowledge none will overload the motor.
  12. Hi Fiddlesticks and welcome. Can't help on fuel I'm electric only but you can do the CAA through the BMFA, makes life easier. Nexus are now called Sarik, they sell most of the magazine plan ranges. If you want an old plan go to Outerzone for free down loads.
  13. I've recently flown for the first time with a gyro and enjoyed it. The gyro is built in to a Lemon receiver and is a 3 axis rate gyro, that is to say it does not self level but corrects any unwanted movement caused by wind gusts. The gyro is switched on and off as required and I have a knob to adjust the gain. I only use it in windy weather especially when the wind is coming across the hedge and causing a lot of turbulence. When flying with the gyro on I cannot tell the difference apart from not getting bumped around by turbulence and the wings stay level.
  14. What a bunch of games the weekend, phew, I'm out of breath. There is no justice in this world, Ireland have been playing outstanding rugby for a while now, out at the quarter final. France have been playing outstanding rugby for a while, out at the quarter final. Wales have been playing mediocre rugby for a couple of years out at the quarter final. England have been playing mediocre rugby for some time, through to the semi finals. There is no justice in this world. Come on England!
  15. But collectors don't care if its supported or not despite your good advice.
  16. The Typhoon RB396 project has a zero hours crated Napier Sabre engine https://hawkertyphoon.com/gallery/rebuild
  17. I think it's a throwback from when they first started out, Spektrum used JR units, JR have thier charge lead jack plug polarity reversed to the norm.
  18. Not wanting to getting into any anti Spektrum debates but I find the Lemon receivers much better than Spektrum's own offerings in regards to range, price and reliability. Not scientifically proven just personal experience.
  19. Pau, I've got some lumps of bronze if you can find a way to get it down south.
  20. My Radiomaster talks nicely to DSM2 and DSMX receivers, no problems.
