Donks ago I had a special slide rule that did capacitance, inductance, resonance, series/parallel, etc - no idea what happened to it, might still be up in the loft 🙂 Re log tables, the name "Frank Castle" comes to mind, but I may well be wrong...

Brilliant Brian 😁

Hi Geoff, the fan oven element I was able to change in situ and I was hoping for the same again - but no, looks like this one has to be accessed from the rear so this time its an oven-out jobbie. Hope they've left some slack! I did find guides for similar but not the same oven, they cant be so different eh 🙂 I'm a big fan of the "right to repair" which is now UK law although not a very robust law, manufacturers can still charge unreasonable prices for spares, but that opens up opportunities for cheaper compatible spares from 3rd parties so we all win for once! 🙂 (although all my stuff is pre-RTR and it doesnt include cookers anyway!) The sticky label denoting "No user serviceable parts inside" always amuses me, very seldom is it true!

The bottom element of our Baumatic has just gone - unforch its not visible, not sure how to get to it... I did the main fan oven element a while ago, but that one is visible, the top oven has two elements but the bottom one (the faulty one) is hidden. Head-scratchy time. 🙂

Darwen Tower, Lancashire - slope-able?

Given this is a wide angle lens, it does look 'good in parts' 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orte7zG8A4U -

Thanks lads, another to add to the list! Cheers Phil -
Through the radio projects I've been in contact with these people, very knowledgeable on underwater stuff; https://www.theassociationofmodelsubmariners.com/ They're a friendly bunch, give them a shout Cheers Phil

Sorry, a bad choice of words (& pics!) posted without proper consideration. What I intended to suggest is not to charge in your house but in an outbuilding, shed or workshop, but I had in mind flying & charging in summer, not the sub-zero temperatures we're enduring at the moment, and of course we shouldnt charge cold and then bring the charged lipo into warmer surroundings. It didnt occur to me that anyone would be flying and charging while its so bitterly cold... hardy souls! 😊 Apologies for the misleading post. I'll get back in my box now 😏 Cheers Phil

Geoff, Brian, Gary - you are all experienced Lipo users. You know the score, you've assessed the risks. You're confident in your equipment and you're familiar with your LiPo packs. If theres trouble, you have a plan. Here we have a query from a new user, with as yet little or no experience. Are we recommending that he charges his new LiPos indoors?

All the info you need is there Flyboy but there is one particular thing thats always worth repeating: Dont charge indoors!

'Nominal' is pretty meaningless in practise. Its often used as an 'average' voltage which it isnt really, especially not in our typical usage. Its also often used as a 'leveller' to compare batteries, which again, it isnt really. Dont worry about 'nominal voltage' just pay attention to charge, discharge & storage voltages 🙂

Some are more careful than others 🙂 https://forums.modelflying.co.uk/index.php?/topic/53003-storm-rx/ my reply 6 posts down 🙂 -
If you like to build, the old Ridge Runt, Soarcerer & Impala are all great slope trainers. Over 250g though... To be honest I think you'd struggle with a 9-ounce slope soarer, better to take the test then the world's your lobster :) Rich:>>( 3 channel really these days due to increased safety ) yeah those free-flight maniacs will be the death of us....

I'd no idea the inbuilt cameras were that good! -

Beaut pix Andy. Nice 'rustic' sky complements them well. I'd be interested to hear what camera gear you use? -
The lithium-powered rechargeble handwarmers (amazon etc) are brilliant, I'm outside all day and these have been a real boon. Previously I've used lighter-fuel ones, charcoal ones, the boily-clicky ones, & single-use throwaways, but the lithiums are the most dependable by far.

I have no problem with cookies either, state or tracking. Google knows everything there is to know about you already, that boat sailed long ago :) If you've deleted them, and then visit an unrelated site , your browser wont have a cookie to pass on to an external reference such as (say) a FB like button. Its your browser that forwards the cookie if one exists for the externally referenced site -if its deleted it cant. Online activity would be really frustrating without cookies, http being stateless every exchange is independent, not influenced by any previous exchange :) -
Hi Geoff, I use a combination of Windows Movie Maker (yes its still available!) for quickies and Shotcut for anything more complicated such as screen shots etc. Both are free, which is an excellent price.

Its a scalable svg image, just reduce the width & height 36's to say 12: <svg width="36" height="36" viewBox="0 0 36 36" fill="none" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"> Because its an svg, theres no need to change the graphic vectors, just the window size, At 12x12 its quite unobtrusive but still usable if need be: -
LiFe Batteries can the be recovered or binned
Phil Green replied to Robert Parker's topic in Batteries and Chargers
I'm not going to argue Martin but the industry disagrees. Long term storage at 50-60% SoC. This isnt about maintaining charge over a 'few years' its about preventing cell degradation. -

LiFe Batteries can the be recovered or binned
Phil Green replied to Robert Parker's topic in Batteries and Chargers
Your charger may not support it but of course you can and should long-term store LiFePo4s at their storage SoC (about 50-60%), an easy way is to do a measured discharge from 'full' with a 40% of capacity cut-off if your charger can do that, otherwise just do the sums and set a timer on your phone... :)
