  1. Jeez. Got 500l less than a week ago... £368
  2. Hopefully weather related and not awkward club mates!
  3. I'm a fan of those mylar hinges for all surfaces except flaps. Which I like top hinged. Best solution for that has been the 'spike' type hinges inserted in an inverted V shape so the body goes into the wing and flap at an angle, and the apex of the inverted V is level with the top surface - leaves only a small gap but seems to work well. On my latest plane, I'm using top hinges again, but this time the flat hinges slightly recessed into top surfaces so the top of the hinge is level with the top of the wing and flap. Hopefully this will work out too. I've always had issues with the film lifting on film hinges - probably user error!
  4. Yes, that works fine for me, as does Realflight (not the very latest versions obviously). I could never get Reflex XTR working properly but the two already mentioned suit my needs well... I'm running it on Windows 10, on a Taranis and DX7S
  5. Back on topic, I am very envious of some people's facilities. My three section ex pigeon coop has miraculously shrunken down so that I have one section, where I work, plus a few planes in the second section. Still much better than the previous solution so I shouldn't grumble too much. In reality, whatever I had would soon become: a) a tip b) full.
  6. I can't...... she'd somehow just know.......
  7. Good point, well made....... but, won't the same thing apply with a long dive if the tank is rotated 90 degrees ?
  8. Must be a blimmin' big pen to not fit in crevasses - certainly won't fit in crevices ? (Sorry, feel free to tell me to bog off!)
  9. Lots in UK model shops - Model Shop Leeds, Kings Lynn etc.. Google 'servo slow'......
  10. I have! In fact, I am still at the field, having a coffee. Lovely day with very gentle breeze... Longest flight on Alt, 1 minute 12 seconds. Well pleased.
  11. @Ron Gray How will you 'key' the firewall to the shortened fuselage? I'm curious as I may want to shorten the nose on one of my models, and, as originally built, there were multiple locating lugs to firmly lock the firewall in place.....
  12. Yu. France looked awesome. Surprised how close Wales got. Don't understand why they want to be 17-0 down before they start playing...... and why they don't understand the rules! Back to basics. Again. Still, good to see Talupe back.
  13. In my experience, Foam armour doesn't protect any better than cheaper alternatives and, if your models are stored outside, you'll often experience a sort of 'cloudy' appearance on your model....
  14. I just paint a few coats of water based varnish - available many places, incl Poundland. It helps, but the only thing that'll fully protect foamies seems to be glassing tbh
  15. I too am of the Jurassic age. I got an OpenTX equipped Taranis a couple of years ago, and can't imagine using any manufacturer-specific operating system now. OpenTX was/is extremely flexible and once you understand the basics, easy to use. Indeed, using the wizards, creation of a new model is no harder than with, say Spektrum (which I used before Taranis). No need to be wary, it is very logical - more so than having to delve into, menus to find appropriate mixes etc.. As an example, at our last indoor session, I got the rudder and aileron sticks to operate the rudder on an indoor model quicker than it took 2 members to reduce the throws on a model. I've now jumped to EdgeTX - a better supported branch of OpenTX which liberates touchscreen. My advice would be to give the Taranis a go - you may like it.
  16. Yup, those fly at my club field.
  17. Yaaaay. Finally got out for a few hours. Was at the field for 3 hours - flew my Foamy Wots Wot once and my Arrows Viper once. About 20 mph wind..... Spent most time watching my mate flying his Wot4XL. As soon as I started to pack up, the wind dropped by about 50%. Darn those weather-gods! Going to take my Ultra-Stick to the field to fettle the engine tomorrow..... will pop wings in car "just in case"
  18. My clubmates VMC Spit is covered in doped, painted nylon. Heavy but still flies well. My SFM SE5 is covered in doped, heavyweight tissue. Constantly patching it. When I re-cover it, I'm using laminating film, then tissue, then paint. Price of Oracover, Ora-anything, is ridiculous!
  19. Probably quite big wins for France, England and Ireland.........
