  1. Beautiful day yesterday - managed to fly: Durafly Spit Webbit HK Spad Sbach umx AS3X Micro T-28 Elektro Junior S Mini Ultra Stik Spacewalker FMS tempest Blade CP (And drove my leccy truggy!) Broke fin on my Webbit and mashed up the tempest a bit Managed 3 flights on the Sbach, the T-28 and Spad this morning before work too..... petty much a solid hour in the air Great way to start the day. GG
  2. Never had Parkzone but heard good reports Had an ST FW190 which flew well but had nothing but trouble with retracts and it was a little 'rough' in places Have a Durafly Spit and love it ! GG
  3. Perfect plane ............... not sure it exists as it seems there's always justs one little thing that could be better Closest I've had is a Mini Ultra Stik. But it's not the nicest looking plane by a million miles. The best looking would be my Fliton Rogue. Flies pretty well too - but the undercarriage let that down. My GWS Tiggie was ALMOST perfect - but a little light. My AS3X SBach flies almst perfectly (IMO) but the spinner gets dented and causes vibration ....... If I was any good with computers I suppose I could create a composite Roy: I thought your wildwing was indestructible ! GG Edited By GrumpyGnome on 24/04/2013 14:29:22
  4. Yep - spring's here ! 40+ mph wind, sleet and rain. Nice. Not sure if even the die-hard slopey lead-slead fiends would be out in this. GG
  5. Just a brief update for anyone that's broken a prop ............ don't get frustrated that HK don't have any in stock - the other 4 bladres from the series (F4U / Mustang) fit fine. The F4U one has stickers on it but it works the same . Still love mine and am very pleased with it. And pleasantly surprised that the retracts are standing up well. GG
  6. That's a shame - really nice looking 'plane. Commiserations. Had to forego an early morning sortie today - needed to come in and get ahead so I can leave at lunchtime and take son to orthodontists. GG
  7. Nice and calm today but my work diary limits my time - managed three on the UMX Sbach before work though. Quite warm too................. GG
  8. WOT 4 with a Four stroke 60 - aeronautical perfection ! IMHO Must admit I don't fiddle with my IC engines once tuned; rarely have deadsticks either in that respect, glow is as simple as electric: ic - just fill the tank, add the clip, spin the starter and away you go Electric - charge the batteries, bung in the plane, connect it up and away you go GG
  9. Hi Davd, yep still up and out at silly o'clock. Saturday and Sunday I was in the air before 6:15 - just as dawn arrived. Happily though, since the local bye-laws regarding dog walking have changed, they seem to arrive later so I can squeeze in about 90 minutes Or maybe they're more sensible and stay in bed as it's rather chilly at that time of the morning ! GG
  10. I too fly both and enjoy both equally. But all my leccy planes are relatively small - 1 metre or under except for an EJS glider so I can fly them on some open ground that's close to me, before dog walkers arrive. I fly the smallest ones in the local park - again before the dog walkers descend. I can only fly the ic ones at the proper flying field but I could stay practically all day - which I can't do with my leccy ones unless I buy dozens more batteries, as I find field charging too slow and a faff ! Give it a go - it doesn't have to be one or the other. GG
  11. Managed to fly yesterday, and this morning before dog walkers took over. It was -2 degrees at 6-10 when i launched the spad.... After two weeks of pooh weather, no doubt it'll be nice tomorrow when i'm back at work... GG
  12. Wonder if anyone can help me with programming my DX7s........ I have a HobbyKing SPAD. Flies nicely but if I programme in enough throttle/elevator mix to maske it comfortable at full throtle, there isn't enough when flting at half throttle. But....... if I set the mix so it's OK at half throttle, there is too much 'down' at full throttle. Can I programme in variable down mix or do I need to mechanically alter the amount of downthrust on the motor itseelf ? TIA GG
  13. Maidened mine this morning.............. it was only -1 and most of the snow's melted ...... Looks great on the ground but even better in the air! Some people will no doubt want more power but it seems about right for 'scale' flight. Loops well, rolls well, very impressive low speed handling, flaps make real difference to speed but little impact on attitude. Lights surprsingly bright ! Unfortunately nosed over on landing and broke the prop on the frozen ground Best order a handful. Recommended - a bargain really. GG
  14. I thought I'd get out this morning but the ice was thick on the car (-5 degrees!) and I didn't have much time Fingers crossed for 2morrow
  15. Yep, got that mail too. For anyone else that doesn;t get the mail, balance point is at 70mm froem leading edge, NOT 120. GG
  16. Mine arrived yesterday morning and was completed, including adding a dab of paint, some soldering and scavenging a receiver, in about 3 hours. Says 40 mins on the box but I'm quite a slow builder. It arrived with a wet corner, where postie had balanced it to knock the door but looked in one piece. Opening it up showed just two very very minor things - a flap had become detached (just clip it back on!) and a piece of the polystyrene box was broken. And I needed to replace the battery terminals on the esc with 4mm bullets. The plan itself is very very impressive - motor, esc, servos, electric retracts, slow deploy flaps, lights, all necessary Y-leads etc. - all for under £120 including delivery. It went together easily, with the only slight problem being one aileron binding on a flap - easily solved with a few swipes of a permagrit block on the flap. It's now sitting waiting for the wind to drop............. hopefully can let you know how it goes. In the meantime, I'll put piccies in my gallery - it really is beautiful. GG
  17. I just wanted to publicly praise HobbyKing, instead of what seems to be a constant stream of 'bashing' threads. (It's not about the product - that can be found elsewhere)........... Ordered the product Saturday, it arrived early Wednesday. In between, I had a number of emails telling me EXACTLY what was happening with my order. Plus an email telling me they'd forgotten to put in an 'add-on' and that it was being sent separately. Plus an email telling me the manual had an error, and the correct data, and a link to where a replacement manual can be found if I want one! Whilst others may disagree, I think that's great service. GG
  18. me too ! mines 'ready for despatch'...................... can't wait
  19. Local Park (Crossley Heath) before dog walkers take over. Just the tiddlers............ Sadly I'm now in work looking over the rooftops of Halifax town centre wishing I was retired. GG
