  1. I admire your perseverance Simon......... as well as the handiwork leading to this point!
  2. I'm just packing the car..... as soon as my wifes PT leaves, I'm off! Probably be on my own....
  3. Some folk love nothing better than whinging and complaining....
  4. We typically clear the air for a maiden, to allow the pilot to be where they want/need to be...
  5. We have our pits area parallel to our main runway, about 15 yards separation, with a safety fence between them. There is a taxiway linking the end of the pits, to the Runway. Pilots are not allowed to taxi in the pits - planes being carried to the taxiway, or runway. Then planes are taxied to the appropriate take off point. Probably 50/50 split of pilots using taxiway, or not. ANYONE going in front of the safety fence, for any reason (including placing a plane on the runway for takeoff) has to make those flying aware of their intention, and get a response.....
  6. Great result! 4 strokes make a lovely noise.... and Saitos are real gems.
  7. AS3X on UMX - yes please. Gyro on heli tail - yes please. Haven't needed or wanted it on anything else. If it comes fitted, I remove or de-activate. Re the OP, I'd say the Panic does not need it.
  8. The FMS Hawk? I'm quite happy hand launching but I wouldn't do it with that! If you mean the little Arrows Hawk, the biggest mistake made hand launching this is to use too little throttle. Open the taps, launch slightly upwards.... away it goes. This plane doesn't need a gyro. Like many others, I am not a fan of all the stability aids - I appreciate that in some instances they can be be beneficial, but not in all cases.
  9. I'm assuming if I wanted to use one channel and a separate battery, I'd need 2 Y leads? Question for you.... if I have each mechanical retract on a separate channel, any idea how I'd use a single separate battery ?
  10. From the CPS website, specifically relating to firearms.... Section 19: it is an offence for a person to have with them in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse a loaded shot gun, an air weapon (whether loaded or not), any other firearm (whether loaded or not) together with ammunition suitable for use in that firearm, or an imitation firearm. So, not seen as an over reaction by the law. In some cases, the law is an ass, but I don't believe it is in this case - it's not the wild west 🙂
  11. Irrespective of whether the flyer was doing it legally or not, wandering around with a firearm (even a BB pistol) cannot be condoned.......
  12. Ouch! I'm sure you'll solve the conundrum.....
  13. I'd be ok with a flying boat, 'cos that's just a pointy fuselage! I'd be less happy with floats....
  14. I think it's FASST, I'll check... it's in an XK110 heli....
  15. Everything? Really? Them little Arrows edfs are fabulous flyers.
  16. FrSky - various types incl RX8RPro in petrol Couple of RM168's - they seem fine but you can't seem to get them now Spektrum DSM2 Spektrum DSMX Couple of cheap indoor FrSky clones Orange DSM2 Orange DSMX Just got a 10 channel FlySky to try Some generic Chinese tiny 2channel 'block' rx/esc/servos in a tiny indoor jobby Futaba FASST in a small indoor heli. My larger planes (10cc and above) all have FrSky. No problems with any so far. Some have required fine tuning (can't remember which), and I fine tuned each rx individually, rathe than have a value per protocol. The variety was partly choice, and partly because I came from the Spekky world so had a variety on hand.
  17. I you can't make it in person, there's a video 'walkaound' available on the web site..... an enjoyable hour!
  18. Sorry, that wasn't vey clear..... I think the NHS app stored the QR code data and then the data on your phone was used for tracing. The establishment with the code couldn't collect any data about you..... Happy(?) to be proven wrong.
  19. I think it was the app on your phone storing the data but could be wrong - been out if IT for a while....
  20. Nice site Nont Sarah....... nice plane too!
  21. As far as I know, using a QR code doesn't result in anything being saved - possibly a cookie when you reach the 'destination' similar to visiting a web page. It's just a quick way of reaching a destination. I do agree that a web link, in addition to the QR Code, would be good.
  22. Our club rules state that members need to be aware of, and compliant with, all current CAA regulations pertaining to model flying, including operator ID's. We don't check planes but members have been known to point out the lack of them on some models (to the models owner) - which seems to result in a sticker appearing. If a member complained, I guess a committee member would need to point out that club rules should be followed......
