  1. I picked up one of these for £50, mint, everything but Rx and TX for my lad a few years ago, and it was fine. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/volantex-747-8-trainstar-tough-trainer-1400mm-pnf.html?___store=en_us Known as:- https://www.volantexrc.eu/volantex-rc-trainstar-plastic-unibody-durable-trainer-v747-4-rtf-p-236.html But the newer version has good write ups https://www.volantexrc.eu/volantex-rc-trainstar-ascent-1400mm-747-8-pnp-p-325.html
  2. It’s fine Martin, mine idle all day under pressure upright. But not inverted..
  3. Thanks Martin, but I am an old hand at this. Leaning it on the airbleed results in a throttle down lean cut. I spent 30mins, getting to the optimum I could get, but resulted in removing the pressure and lowering the tank a little. All good
  4. Just IMO, it is worth investing some time, understanding wing loading, and characteristics of aircraft with differing numbers. It isn't so much size, it is more about wing loading, weight, stall speed and characteristics, inertia etc. Lightweight and low wing loaded foamies with large surfaces, are often small and hence relatively cheap, are responsive, electric, and hence are good fun models to "practice" control inputs. HOWEVER, the flying characteristics of this type of model, cannot simply be extrapolated moving up in size, weight and powerplant, with wing loading being a valuable (but not limited to) indicator. A warbird is an entirely different animal, a WOT 4 equally different to the foamy, gliders, different again... there are all manner of differences.. but I would have a squizz at wing loading..
  5. Thanks, I concur with your view that tank pressure is not required. On my inverted OS 26FS, with tank pressure and the tank about level with the carb, if the idle was left for 20 seconds or so, it would start to pool up and eventually quit after about 30 seconds. Taking off the tank pressure helped with this. So I was just wondering, that is all. Nice model and nice flying BTW
  6. Nice didier. Do you run the OS 26 FS with tank pressure?. Any issues with rich tick over?
  7. Blimey charlie, Sorry to hear your misfortune Ron, and I hope is clears up soon. I once had a burn blister in the middle of my back as a teenager whilst on holiday abroad.. when lanced, the liquid inside was so hot, it actually scolded the rest of my back !!.. so be careful buddy. Wishing you a speedy recovery
  8. I would screw it if easier, (but a proper job as described) and then check it periodically, and if it becomes loose, upgrade to a permanent method as described by Jon. You might never need it, you might do, who knows, if it does work loose you know what to do. If you have the time, inclination, going to live for years and years, fly the backside off the plane, then skip to the belt n braces. Fairly straightforward conundrum IMO. Incidentally, another method, I have also used a BOLT as opposed to a screw in a nylon mount, used to "self tap itself" into an ever so slightly smaller hole. Due to a diagonal bit on the bottom of the mount I was unable to get a nut on the end.. Been good for over 10 years.. Squeaked a bit driving it in, but it aint going anywhere!.
  9. By heck, full marks fellas.. did thou pay a flying fee and thought better get thou’s money worth.? Heehee
  10. I can see the whiffs of castor in the sky from your Rafale 🤣😉
  11. I hope he didnt land on the same strip as take off!!.. yikes.. need a good few springs in his seat!!. Brilliant, human endeavor, eccentric loons.. keeps the world interesting.
  12. Paul, you appear to have made an extremely rash assumption that vastly experienced members of this forum are like minded modellers who will answer your questions politely. 😉😂 I think in conclusion, your options and advice is:- a) get a supermarket bag b) be very careful where you throw chuck gliders c) drill holes in your wings to let the water through d) take up model boats have FUN and be SAFE folk
  13. Well done that man, bet you are well chuffed.. Looks a bobby dazzler that. Well worth persevering with.
  14. Mornin all, bit of a dilemma this morning, since the missus became all woke, she now self identifies as a wheelie bin, problem is, we have a date night coming up and I can't remember if I need to take her out Tuesday or Wednesday
  15. Brilliant, thankyou.. and with the velcro, do you just yank a loop to pull free??
  16. I saw on the youtube video comments, that some asked the same, and the answer was tow release couple to servo, and Velcro!!!. Would be keen to see / understand more.. Den
  17. brilliant fun, what release method is being used?
  18. I must iron my cravat for next weekend.. brilliant.
  19. 100% agree with Matty. Many a beginner, sets up, fires up, puts the model on the ground and then does what the bloke before did! or only then ponders which way the wind is. When you get to the field, survey the situation, work out and visualise. Also, dont listen to the "there's hardly any wind, it makes no difference".. brigade.. it does, and more so, when you are inexperienced.
  20. Cant agree more. I love all the chat in the pitts with the hotshots and models of this size, going on about, high torque this, powerbox that, S-Bus the other... when you take a look at the quality and design of construction and materials, quality of horns, hinges etc.. masked by a fancy colour scheme to make us all drool, it doesnt matter a jot, what gear you stick in it. IMO, more diligence needs to be applied to the airframe, strength, construction etc to eliminate an expensive mishap. (and no, that doesnt mean extra weight!). Sadly most people seem to be more interested in the quality of the paint job on the pilot!!.. barmy
  21. Great vid as always Dom, sign of the times, at the start of the video upon seeing the pilot, I thought "oh this will be good, a young lad prop hanging a lanc!", but good on him flying it so nicely... would have been great to see a bouncing b&mb, given the 80th anniversary of Dambusters. would have been the icing on the cake.
  22. God forbid anyone joining the forum flying an MDS powered, foam, carboard and correx non scale model, with cheap copy chinese radio gear, and run on castor based fuel with dairylea additive!.. who screams it about the sky with gay abandon and has been enjoying himself for 20+ years, ...poor fella wouldnt last 5 minutes on here.
