Herri
Posted by Danny Fenton on 07/09/2010 13:49:13: Has anybody taken the plunge yet and ordered some bits? I'm seriously considering it, if they are at the Hop Farm Do. I still cant make up my mind as to electric or petrol. Cheers Herri
Chris Bell
Have to say - no contenst for me - Petrol... yum yum. built a CAP for my eldest on electric - nice - very nice would be better if it made a noise though.. Chris
Herri
Yes but how much will be hanging outside the cowl? Herri
Trex700e
the eletric comment was some friendly banter, no harm intended. sorry. With reguards to the sound of an electric plane, there are now sound systems that can easily be installed into a largeish model that gives it a very scale sound. David Ashby - Moderator
We met up with Tony to photograph the model last week and I've just popped a few new pics in the home page article (link above). It flies very well, no vices and looks very authentic in the air. We took along Matt, our new video man so we've filmed the model in flight and interviewed Tony too. Matt is a professional film maker so this will be something to look forward to. It should appear on our YouTube page soon.
Tony Nijhuis
After flying for the camara last Friday, I gave the model a good work out on the Sunday.....orrible x-wind again which made the model fish tail a little but had no trouble landing her x-wind so good news. Had a sticky retract so had to do a belly landing.....not the lightest of model but sprisingly no damage what so ever...... The free plan of the model I saw for the first time yesterday.....3 sheets printed on both sides!... nicely done but a bit or an origarmi exercise! Those who want to buy the un-cut 2-sheet version can do so through the Tony Nijhuis web site in the near future..... Cheers .

Danny Fenton
That really is a tease David, we want more
Tom Foreman
Well of the brief couple of seconds of actual model footage it looks extremely tempting! How many Watts will I need Tony, I don't think 1800 will be enough at 15lb, but if I can get the weight down to 12lb... Tom
Tony Nijhuis
Tom, that's over 100watts per lb so should be fine....... Flew her again today but had a bit of an arrival........the engine leaned out in flight and on a low pass she promptly droped to tick over....so I tied to bring he 360 deg back to the strip but didn't quite make and flict her in from 10ft.........not too badly damage and is back together now.....couldn't do that with and artf......I guess I got a little too cocky, treating the spit like a shocky...and it bit!..more respect next time
Daniel Cardona
a laser 100 will definatley be the best choice for this model. it's more compact and the silencer will stay in the cowl. or better still, with the same dimensions the laser 150 will give more than enough power. looking foward for the plans! thank you so much Tony! andy paterson
VIDEO YOU TEASE great plans, thats the next scale after the Tiger Moth , but what was the noise level of the engine? our club is very strict with the noise ruling thanks Tony
Daniel Cardona
the laser 100 with a 16x6 prop is extremley quite in my opinion, even at the laser engines website is stated that is the most quite in the series. if you phone or mail to neil tidey of laser engine's he will be glad to help and give information. A Collins
Has anyone else noticed that the new spitfire from Tony has a 72" wingspan and not 70" as described in the magazine special and the plan?
David Ashby - Moderator
Ok, the full video is up
batcho99
Are we having a proper build thread for this model? Has anyone already started? Iain.
Malcolm Fisher
I've had several; attempts to look at the video and given up in disgust. For some reason the image becomes pixellated, colours go haywire and and faces disappear. Some parts of the picture appear normal for short periods - mostly the upper portions. I don't think it's my PC on the blink as I looked at some other videos and they were Ok. Any ideas to sort this out? Malcolm

Brian Lambert
It works OK here except one shot that seems to be laterally reversed.
Danny Fenton
It wouldn't work for me either earlier today, but I think that may have been volume of traffic onto the video perhaps? It is working fine now. Looks good, so whose going to be first to cut wood
Hugh Coleman
Worked for me! Great to watch. I noticed that the model flies at a nice scale speed... Despite the weight. Good job Tony. Another one to sit half built on my bench for the next year or so... Or maybe not. The size might get me motivated to finish this one. Cheers, Hugh

David perry 1
I found that by fast forwarding beyond about 25% the rest of the video worked fine. It looks great! A really nice Spit. I still cant decide whether to make this one or the 62" though, for reasons of space. Grrr D
batcho99
I've got the roller on the field this weekend pinching more grass off the farmer so we can except bigger models, this one will be no probs now Like Danny said, who's doing the first cut?
