The man wins a goldfish! ............and a slice of that flower pot should make up the rear portion of the cowling, which has quite a pronounced taper. We'll give it a bash later. tim
Peter Miller
Been using the tube for years! I recently bought four Veron Cylinders on Ebay. Don't know what I will use them for but it was too good to miss.
Tim Hooper
Peter, Having hewn the cowl, it's going to be a bit of a fiddle to try to fit the dummy cylinders inside the cowl. There isn't much clearance! tim The balsa nose ring and slice of flower pot. Sanded to shape and trial fitted. Doesn't look too bad really! Tim Hooper
Right-oh. No building today - the flying field is beckoning me to get a few flights in before I go to work this afternoon! It's a tough life etc....... Anyway, I did take a few minutes out to check weigh the progress so far, so I loaded up the scales thus; Airframe3S 2700 cells packMotor, prop, spinner,ESC,UBEC.Rx, 4 servosUndercarriage and wheelsPilot Total 2lb 7oz All I need to add now are the wing and wheel fairings, covering, linkages etc. so we could be in for an AUW of less than 3lb for 400²". Fingers crossed, eh? tim
Tim Hooper
Oooooh look...................wing fairings! I've never made these before, so I'm pretty pleased with this mornings work. tim With the wing protected by cellophane, I made some rough paper templates. 1/32 ply formed the bases. The wing seat was relieved slightly to make room for the ply. 1/32 balsa easily conforms to the contours. Just needs filling and sanding... Ton van Munsteren
Tim, You know your way with balsa, your doing a great job with this model. Tim Hooper
Thank you Gents - although I'm far from being a master at this aeromodelling nonsense! Anyway the rain stopped long enough this morning to allow to pin/tape/tack all the bits together for some shots of the almost-ready-to-cover airframe. Netty gives the Courier some scale.... Sorry about this one!

Erfolg
I cannot but note the short nose. Will ballast be needed to get the Cg whee you want it? I ma particularly impressed with the wood work in the front windows.
Danny Fenton
Super looking model Tim, well done. If its true that if it looks right it will fly right then this one surely must Cheers Danny
Tim Hooper
Thank you Gentlemen! Your kind comments do indeed mean a lot. Erf, I noted the short nose when I first drew up the plan, so I've already lengthened the nose by some 20mm! You'll also note that the battery tray is over 12" long to allow myself to place the battery wherever it's needed. Mind you, I was quite surprised today to find that the airframe as shown (but with wheels retracted aft) actually balances exactly on my chosen CG point, which means that, even after covering and servo installation, I should be able to achieve the CG just by moving the cellpack around a tad, without resorting to adding ballast. Good,eh? tim
