I thought i would flag up that it is the Southport Flying Show this weekend.

I was alerted to the event by a very low flying Chinook that flew directly over our field on Wednesday. On return to home a bit later, to be told by my wife, that it had also flown very low over the house, one of those twin helicopter things.

I guess it was going into Warton.

FlightRadar 24 shows one as De Havilland DH115 Vampire Mk.55 LN-DHZ starting from near Southport. Fantastic sound those twin booms, oh I think I'm in love .

Could this have been the Vampires from the Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron that were displaying at Duxford over the weekend

They also displayed in Jersey. Plus some very interesting aircraft including the old SAAB Flying Barrel adn a Wackett Boomerang

The Vamps came over me in Wellingborough, heading toward Southport with just under 30 mins to go for their time slot. Multi radials this AM but I couldn't get out in time to see what it might be. Vamps coming back and heading for Duxford. Reds going home in nice tight formation! Lone Spit going East(ish). Not a bad haul! Last day of the Air Show season today I believe.

This evening had two fast low passes of jets going towards RAF Cottesmore -now Kendrew Barracks sorry I don't know what they are.

Quite likely I think, certainly the T55 was an export/licence built version (see below).

2 vamps led by a Mig 15 over NW Leicestershire at about 1pm on Sunday heading NW towards North Warwickshire and North Birmingham

Light aircraft and para motorised thingise Typhoons and bbmf from raf coningsby have had the the reds over a few times did have thumper and vera over my roof very low heading for east kirkby before heading home and of course the ambicopter .chanooks DC 47 hercs you name it we get them.

Just seen something really unusual. a Peitenpol Air Camper flying over my house. IT did two rolls The first ended up pointing down at 45 degrees, rather like an R/C pilots first attempt ar a roll. Second one was a very big barrel roll.

I didn't know that they were allowed to roll!!

According to the LAA type certification they're not permitted to perform any aerobatic manoeuvres

I Emailed Pietenpol in the USA. Thye commented that the pilot must be good not to over stress the wing.

My Friend went to Jersey to see his son test flying his home built biplane. This coincided with the air show. Test flights made in the days before the airshow.

I lent him an SLR and telephoto lens. He took 543 pictures NOT ONE OF THE AIRSHOW AIRCRAFT even though he had access to the flight line!! I dispair.

For the last few days, I have seen a twin engined,radial engined aircraft, somewhat similar to a Lockheed, of some type or potentially mistaken for a Mosquito, until you consider the engines and it being a low winged monoplane.

It seems to be coming out of BAE Warton, does anyone know what it is?

Re post by ME 1. Interesting to see a Boomerang in the UK although it's actually a replica built from T6 and Boomerang parts. Most obvious hint is the non authentic tail wheel configuration. Built in the US many years ago.
