Nigel Day
A real work of art. Dunno about tarmac. If it was me I'd be looking for an acre of feathers!
Danny Fenton
Thx Chris, all British engines turn that way and being electric I can make the model do so too. The torque will help keep the lines tight Thx Nigel, it's all smoke and mirrors it's not so good up close Cheers Danny
Andy Muckley
Hi Danny, yes i will be at the Nats and will most probably bump into you at some point. I was on the late shift again this week hence not at club night
Concorde Speedbird
Posted by Danny Fenton on 27/08/2015 19:33:27: Thx Chris, all British engines turn that way The Rolls Royce Merlin does not I think? It looks terrific as always! CS

Danny Fenton
hi Chaps, CS the Merlin does turn the same way, it goes through a reduction gearbox which reverses the rotation Wont be at the Nats, a stag with sodding great horns leapt out at us on the motorway and has detroyed the car. Fortunately we are all well. So my apologies to all that were hoping to see the Chipmunk........ Needless to say the deer wont be going anywhere either...... the next car along hit the remains and was also written off..... Could have been worse, thankfully the family are all okay Cheers Danny

Colin Leighfield
I've seen that happen before, it's a huge relief that you are all ok, what a terrifying experience. On the engine rotation thing, it's worth noting that the Griffon rotated the opposite way to the Merlin, also some Merlins were built the other way round to make an opposite rotating pair for planes such as the Hornet. Rex Dyer
Ouch !!! We don't think about dangerous wildlife over there. Here, it's kangaroos or feral teenagers. Good to hear you're not hurt. I was tempted, but I'll stay away from stag party jokes...... I hope your insurance company is sympathetic. Rex

Concorde Speedbird
Blimey, that's quite a scare. Thank goodness you and your family are okay. Forgot about the reduction drive. I wonder why the Griffon is the other way though, you'd think they would keep it the same. Perhaps so the prop turns the same way as the trainer aeroplanes so pilots would be used to the swing direction on take-off? CS
