Simon Kirk
Hi I got an easy star 2 thrown in with a tx and a few other bits I bought this weekend. The control horn on the elevator seems to have come loose (looks to have been originally glue in place) I'm fairly new to modeling and I'm looking for any info on what glue to use to stick it back on? It's a clean break and the foam isn't damaged.Iv got plenty of epoxy but iv read that is no good for elapor, I also have some bog standard super glue and a tin of accelerator, can that be used?Otherwise is there some special adhesive I need to buy as iv read elapor only accepts certain glues? Thanks in advance
cymaz
Someone else is gluing an Easystar together! Here
gangster
I have nothing to add to that but would like to echo a couple of points there in the link the easystar is a great little model, may only look a real toy but is so much fun to fly so even though you got it as a job lot it's worth fixing properly I bought mine after going through a confidence crisis (first in 35+ years in rc flying). It reminded me what flying is about. Love it. Took four attempts to land first time after being used to heavy ic things. Elevator and throttle forward does the trick! and as said nothing you can do to an easystar can cause it to fly badly bearing in mind the elevator horn is a bit important you could take the uber safe route and get the genuine multiplex glue but of course you will have no idea what other glue is in there
Rich too
I don't the answer but I'm a recent convert to Gorilla glue, sticks to anything. Perhaps, try a test first.
Keith Berriman
Hi Simon. Have you thought of using Surgical Cross Weave tape across the joint on one side maybe the top side
John Lee
Multiplex details a standard technique for attaching the horns to their Elapor models, which works fine. Here are extracts from the Easy Star Manual: Important note This model is not made of Styrofoam™, and it is not possible to glue the material using white glue, polyurethane or epoxy adhesives. These glues only produce a superficial bond which fails immediately when stressed. Please be sure to use medium-viscosity cyano-acrylate glue exclusively - ideally our Zacki -ELAPOR® # 59 2727, the super-glue designed and optimized expressly for ELAPOR® particle foam. If you use Zacki-ELAPOR®, you usually do not need cyano activator (kicker). However, if you prefer touse a different cyano, and therefore have to use activator, always use the spray in the open air to avoid the unpleasant fumes. 17. Attaching the horns to the rudder and elevator Spray activator on the joint surface (the underside) of the horns. Apply cyano to the horn recesses in the elevator 6 and rudder. Leave the fluid to air-dry for a few seconds, then press the horns into their recesses
Simon Kirk
Just what I was looking for thanks john. Iv only got half the manual with the plane and it doesn't have anything about the control horns, I think the last half must be missing. And I couldn't seem to find much online other than people arguing on forums about what to use!Il call at my local shop this week and see 1hat they've got

john stones 1 - Moderator
Use a conventional screwed on horn if you have no joy with the glue Simon John
Simon Kirk
I was thinking that too john, either that or I have some spare push lock ones from my super cub which I might try

Frank Skilbeck
I just put together a PM Pro and used poundshop Cano on the hinges, big mistake they all came loose, resulting in the rudder coming off fortunately with no damage. I reglued them all back in with Zap medium and have no further problems. Horns on my 5+ year old easy star were glued in with Multiplex Zacki and are still in place. Simon Kirk
Spoke to the chap I bought the job lot off and turns out he still had a bottle of medium CA and a tin of kicker, also came in useful when I got a bit corky after I fixed it and crashed and snapped a wing as a result of a wonky barrel roll
