Dom (Essential RC)
I'll do something to the canopy frame or lower the camera. Not sure which...but it was getting annoying as lead jet was hidden by it quite frequently. I'm not seeing much difference between DJI O3 and Caddx Walksnail Avata FPV at the moment. The telemetry display in the latter looks better and that's what I've got in my A-10. Video of that soon.
Dom (Essential RC)
First attempt at Spitfire chase/formation. Challenging and a few tweaks needed before next time out. Was a horrible day with 20mph wind down the strip which made everything difficult including ground handling. Perseverance will pay off for Summer I think.
Dom (Essential RC)
So far the best FPV conversion I have done. The huge flaps make FPV landing very easy. 4
Dom (Essential RC)
First flight. Needs some work but good to get it in the air.
Dom (Essential RC)
Canopy plastic wasn't clear enough to put an FPV camera inside so I mounted it up on the tail. Nice view seeing the aeroplane in the foreground with the scenery below... Edited April 1 by Dom (Essential RC)
Dom (Essential RC)
So much more fun if there are 2 of you trying to fly formation. Challenging but that's why we like it.

Dom (Essential RC)
Demo of the new Tundra v3 and a 12S 105mm EDF Hawk that could go into production soon...
Dom (Essential RC)
Building this is one thing...but having the skill to fly it indoors is something else. Great skill demonstrated by master aero-modeller Andrew White.
Adrian Smith 1
You sure need "bottle" to fly in that sort of space. Wow!
Dom (Essential RC)
I'm looking forward to trying one of these soon.
Dom (Essential RC)
Sounds good for an electric !
Adrian Smith 1
Nice one, Dom. Do you know which Rotomax motor is installed and the amp capacity of each 6S lipos in the 12 setup? Thanks.
Ron Gray
Rotomax 80cc and 6200 LiPos. 1
Ron Gray
I think that listening to Stuart and the model, a 60cc equivalent may be a better choice for that model, but it did sound nice!
extra slim
Nice video, benefit of electric setup in that P51, is that at least you have a spare motor for your washing machine!!!.. I like the fact it was wheeled out for take off, as taxi'ing out would have used 50% of the battery!!. Nice though.
Philip Lewis 3
I've had a few of these motors including a 50cc Rotomax and that had way more power than any 50cc IC engine, it was ballistic in a 60cc plane, it's as if they equated watts to horsepower and believed the IC manufacturers claims. Never had any problems with any of them, good solid motors.
Adrian Smith 1
But very heavy compared to it's contemporaries, Philip. I have had a 50 cc and 100cc Rotomax 🙁electric equivalent and while they go well they are nearly twice the weight of comparable rivals. 🙁
Ron Gray
That might be an advantage in a warbird!

Dom (Essential RC)
Most significant challenge with IC warbird conversions I have found is adding a tray for big lipos and making them easily accessible without needing to take the wing(s) off... and ruining the scheme with the modifications. I didn't see what Stuart had done to his P-51 for lipo access. Was hoping might see him and the P-51 at Old Warden next week but he's at Joe Nall at the moment so suspect that's unlikely. Dom (Essential RC)
Something a bit different. Going to take me a while to master this one.
Ron Gray
I bought the Hobby King one that they used (?) to sell a few years back, didn't enjoy it so it's sat at the back of my workshop gathering dust. Launching them requires a special knack, as you said in your vid!
Dom (Essential RC)
Quick build 30mm EDF Red Arrows Hawk. Once trimmed out it flew quite well in the wind...
