Stephen Jones
Posted by Richard Harris on 18/07/2020 20:25:32: Steve, Youv'e cracked it, now its time to remove the wing Rich Just because i`ve ridden my bike up and down the yard a few times doesn't mean i can take my stabilizers off. I think i will leave them on a bit longer my eyes are not as good as they used to be . Plus with other flyers taking off and landing i am having to keep out of the way. Who knows i may learn to use the rudder instinctively now. Cheers Steve.

Stephen Jones
Thank You, Simon. Another string to my bow , so to speak. I have always wanted to fly a Autogyro but failed every time. So this year decided i had to have a proper crack at it and with a few Lidl Gliders at my disposal decided that would be the way to go as they bounce well and are light and cheap enough to keep trying. Cheers Steve.
Stephen Jones
I think my flying is getting better. Low and Slow last evening well worth getting out, with the field to myself i was able to fly close in which helped me see what i was doing. Stephen Jones
Here is a Video of my flying this AutoGyro with no one to hinder me. I maybe getting the hang of this lark. Bear with it i fly it really close in. Steve

Stephen Jones
Posted by Martin McIntosh on 27/07/2020 21:20:29: As Richard said, now remove the wing. You will find it to be a different kettle of fish! Hi Martin, Yes, i will remove the remove the wings at some point, Watch the video carefully see how slow it is flying and tell me how those 13" wings are keeping it flying, A different kettle of fish it maybe if i lose orientation which is why the wings are their. Like the Pitcairn-Cierva PCA-2 autogyro the wings are not keeping it aloft . Besides it would not be a Lidl Glider with no wings. When i am confident i will not lose orientation i will try with the wings off, i may even use a long rod where the wings are but cover them with a fluorescent covering to aid Orientation. Have you still got your Lidl glider as you could also convert that to a Autogyro i will do a build video if it will help. Steve.
Martin McIntosh
Yes I still have the `full house` one plus an unstarted `kit`, but my Atoms sit forlornly in the loft. Must dig them out again.
Stephen Jones
Had four flights in today with my Autogyro. A bit too windy but as we will be losing are field in a week or two i felt i had better get a few flights in while i can. Glad i did as the new lighter blades proved to spin up nice and provide plenty of lift. Steve
ken anderson.
well done from me Stephen, you mention losing the field...why? ken anderson...ne..1..curious dept.
Stephen Jones
I have been told the farmer whom we rent the land off has sold up. We was only given short notice and we have to be off by the end of September. So it is a very sad time for us . We have secured another field although it will not be ready until October . And speaking to other club members the new field is not as good as the sun will be in front of us. Will just have to wait and see when we get on it what we can do with it. Stephen Jones
This was my last flight before the new lockdown. I must say how happy i am with how well this flies. It has a reduced wing span of 25 inch and the total AuW 690g it well fly for over five minutes on a 1300Mah 3s Lipo I think that is pretty good going. Stephen Jones
A small up-date on this one. I have now reduced the wingspan on my Mk1 Autogyro and after spending most of the afternoon flying it I have to say that it is actually flying better with the shorter wing span. And as my MK2 Autogyro also flies well I have decided to keep my Mk1 Autogyro with the wings on. Steve.

Rich Olivier, has sent me pictures and it looks like the fields are covered in a white frozen water and they are currently Skiing on it. I think it is called snow ! so maybe some time before the test flight unless he fits some skis. He has also built Tom`s Crane Fly At least someone is getting a white Christmas. I wish him well in his Autogyroing exploits. Steve.
Stephen Jones
Just noticed I have not shown anyone my MK2 Lidl Autogyro. So here it is. It flies very well. You might want to skip to 2:50 for slow and close up. It even flies without the tailplane on. I think I would call that a successful conversion don't you.
