Diamond Geezer
Hi guys Anyone know what this is and what size and where I might be able to get a needle valve for it.
Engine Doctor
It's an early MDS . Should have MAC which I believe is Russian Cyrillic for MDS. Can't tell from pis if its a 40 or a 61.
Engine Doctor
Ps sorry forgot about the Needle valve. The engine is about 25 years old now possibly 30 and were not that good . The carbs were particularly bad and th NV had a very coarse thread. Your only chance to get one will be if you can find a secondhand one somewhere . Probably your best bet if you want to use the engine is to fit a replacement carb. I'll have a dig in my spares box just incase , but don't hold your breath. If you do use it don't expect too much from it or overheat it or it will break or wear out the internals . First parts to fail are gudgeon pin / piston fit that messes up the port timing. J D 8
Some had success with fitting carbs, ASP. I think. I had a 40 and it is the only engine I have chucked in the bin. Not called More Dead Stick for nothing.

Martin Harris - Moderator
Mine Don’t Stop - until the fuel runs out. You can be lucky and get a good one - I use a 38 in a fun fly and a 58 in an old Extra hack and they are both well used and reliable. Mike T
It's an MDS! Just straighten out an old paperclip and shove it in there! ? PS - I have an old 10cc covered with Cyrillic script - runs just fine (on the bench...) Edited September 18, 2021 by Mike T PS
