I understand the financial attraction for the game, provided the lesser nations get a bigger share, otherwise its not relevant. The object of the competition is to determine a winner not 1st 2nd 3rd place losers!. Hopefully the seeding will be better next world cup. That said I have enjoyed this one. The seeding is established by results, which you don't get unless matches are played! 😉 As Warren Gatland said in response to criticism of this years seeding - 'if you want better seeding, you should have played better in the last world cup!' Aren't they done about 6 months ahead of the event for football ? That seems to work better....... World Rugby really needs l try and 'encourage' more internationals for non-tier1 countries though, or they'll never get any better than they are now.... The seedings were based on pre covid positions and with no matches being played they went back to that. So though Warren Gatland is right the fact is the games were not played. Well done to both teams but I have to take my hat off to the ABs for almost winning it with 14 men for most of the match.
