martin collins 1
This has probably done to death but the threads i looked at were a number of years old, maybe there is something new to use since Clearcoat is no longer available? I am refurbing an old model and giving it a new coat of acrylic paint, i have some Rustoleum clear lacquer spray here but not sure if that will resist the fuel on the painted covering. I don`t want to get into a two pack type system that requires specialist breathing equipment, i just want to stick on a B&Q type mask to keep something less lethal out of my lungs. Anyone had some success with something that is easy to use and easily available in the UK?

Very high gloss doesn't always suit the subject and they don't appear to have a flatting agent available. Looks to be good stuff though. Ron Gray
For internal only?
martin collins 1
I am not concerned about the engine bay area, warmed 30 min epoxy should do that, it is an exterior finish i am looking for, preferably matt or satin.
Andy Stephenson
Deluxe Materials have a product for matting their own fuelproofer which is reportedly the same chemical formulation as Rustins Plastic Coat... https://deluxematerials.co.uk/collections/wood/products/make-it-matt

TBH I've only used this for engine / tank bays and similar, I rather missed the OP's point...

The reason for my post above was because the specs for Rustin's states for internal only so I was wondering about its use outside.

It could be because of UV degradation if permanently outside but what proportion of the time are our models outside, very little I would guess.
Ron Gray
Could well be, as you say, our models are not outside for that long so I'm sure there would be no ill effect. Personally I still prefer Clearcoat with flatting agent!

gillyg1
" delux materials" aerokote, with matt addative as above for a matt/satin finish, or as it comes for a gloss finish.
Graeme Poke
It was suggested to me yesterday to use PVA as a fuel proofer. Two coats. Is this possible please? Graeme
