I'm with John Stones on this. However CLOCKWORK anyone?
  2. lets look at it in a light hearted fashion
  3. I have received my reminder to not forget predictions for the forthcoming Japanese GP. Give the FIA were supposed to have given their ruling on the alleged breaches of the spending cap I have taken the opportunity to predict the outcome and I have it below. The F I A statement. In accordance with the Rules governing expenditure by teams and the cap applied across the grid audits were conducted. During the course of auditing the material supplied by the teams it became apparent that two teams had breached the cap. The Adjudicating Committee (A C) had originally expected to announce its findings on the 6th October 2022. Following discussions with Legal and Accounting members of the teams it was pointed out to the A C that there were anomalies which had caused the Rules to be interpreted in a manner which was not commiserate with the intended compliance. In order to ensure this does not take place in future the Rules have now been given detailed interpretation and caveats which WILL prevent further misunderstanding. Had both teams sought advice regarding the application of the Rules this matter may not have arise, however neiter did so in the belief their understanding of the Rules was correct. Given the matters raised by the teams the AC have decided that both teams will receive censure and have suspended penalties imposed. These will result in the docking of Championship and Driver Points together with fines in keeping with the current scale of penalties.
  4. I guess different folks employ the same method with differing recipes. I do note, but failed to put it in the above instruction, that Kingfisher Aviation were supplier of the epoxy being used. Like to think that epoxy resin is all the same but we do know different.
  5. The following is from Fibraglat.com, courtesy of one of our members who has used this method. Material: 24g min of fibreglass cloth, non starch type. Two part finishing resin/hardener. Small set of scales Mixing cups and sticks Brushes, small and medium Sharp knife Rubber gloves 220-280 grit wet and dry 400 finishing grit 800-1200 polishing Methylated Spirit 1st Coat impregnate wood and stick cloth to item. 2nd coat fills weave on fibreglass cloth 3rd coat gives a smooth finish ready for primimng 4th coat if needed, look at weave to see if it is filled. Method. 1 Cut cloth with 1-2" overhang of object to be covered 2 Wet and dry item. Do this using dry 200 grit remove dust 3 Mix two part resin 50-50% 200g R 200g H 4 Add same amount of Meths so 1:1 ratio, mix until liquid is not cloudy 5 Apply resin mix on pre positioned glassfibre. Put a good quantity in the middle and work outwards from this. Ensure you go around the edges. Check for bubbles. 6 Leave to dry for a few hours or overnight. 7 Remove overhang with sharp knif and wet and dry the edges. Remove dust. 8 Repeat stages 1-7 on other side of item. 9 Mix resin 50 - 50 only using 50% of meths apply to both sides. Leave to dry overnight then use 200 and 400 grit for finishing of use this wet until surface is ready for priming/painting. I have seen the results of the above and all are excellent
  6. FT Bloody Barron. In expensive and does it all. A hoot.
  7. ah yes the propriety issue, hello Apple. Battery connectors, phone chargers etc. I am under impression E.U. have mandated for common charge plugs and so on. I wait to be corrected.
  8. For those who do not know, University of the 3rd Age. (U3A). I won't go into detail about this group, its easily accessible on the web, internet, electronic garden fence, etc etc. It occurred to me that giving a chat and taking along some items to one of the local meeting places for the above may encourage some to take it up. I am curious to know if anyone else has done this, or even considered it. My thoughts were a couple of models with some radio equipment a few illustrations and may be even take along an rc flight sim.
  9. This has also caused 2nd hand (or is it preloved i can't keep up) items to see a slight increase in price. It may also have the effect of having people build stuff. Yes I appreciate there is still some items that would have a cost increase in that area, but re using stuff from crashed, retired models and even that old motor/engine lurking in the shed/attic could finally be put to use.
  10. The axial rolls performed by the cat as it attempted to lick the butter off the toast was a sight to behold!
  11. The nipple on the assembly will be the fuel intake, you are a nipple missing (no offence) for the outlet which attaches to the blue tube. You may find a suitable one from another carb as they are a screw fit. There are some decent pics and a manual available on the web. English_v1_07.svx
  12. Welcome. The only think I knw about jets is its harder to find a place to fly them than electric and nitro and thats tough. Good luck and take it steady.
  13. Forgive me but I note in the thread that the minus - sign and the underscore _sign are being used. I think that only one of these is correct. From memory on other wav extensions the underscore _ is the correct method.
  14. We all think we knew her, and in some ways we did. And in those ways that we did see, most of us liked and admired. If you look at the family as a whole they are no different from any others, we all have family drama trauma in our lives, just not open for public scrutiny, though social media does no favours. She handled it all in public view with stoic aplomb. I have little doubt that the loss of Phillip caused her to call on her inner reserve. She was my boss for 38yrs. I trust her faith is rewarded and their unison continues. RIP Ma'am.
  15. If the rumours are true seems he didn't have a problem rising to the occasion. Breader breed!
  16. We have the same problem with HSBC. I had the Treasurer look at Nat West as I have account with them. Apparently the charges were off putting. Its just a pain. Really think there is a need for a community bank. Credit Unions would not be a viable option.
  17. Maybe you could test it with a mock up and a good hairdrier, just for future reference. I have printed servo horns using PLA and so far no failures.
  18. Its an ESC but for the life of me i cannot remember from whence it came. Do any of you have any idea what size its is ? i.e. amperage. Perhaps we could use this as a thread to ID other stuff, apart from models.
  19. Thanks to all at the Club and those at the venue, Sara and I both enjoyed it. Even venturing into the willows model hunting!
  20. I have just returned from the field having had a shaft come loose on the motor, Overlander T2830/09. Having taken the motor out and upon examination it appear that one of the magnets has come adrift. I note from an earlier topic epoxy has been used to reattach the magnet. I am considering doing the same. Anyone know if its been successful or recommend an alternative?.
  21. Well excuse me, laws were broken, the Police enforce them the Court administers the justice. It is appalling because we continually overlook the 'minor' infringements thereby doing away with respect for the law. As for the drone being flown unlawfully it may have been hence my query. Heavens above the newspaper contradicts itself.. I see that there is an article in the Daily Mail concerning the poor state of Policing in the Country, I understand it is written by a former Police officer. I must get a copy and read it.
  22. Laws were broken by the gun toting chap and it would appear even an assault. What I find appalling is the fact that once more an individual has not been charged with any of a number of offences, despite the video and audio clearly available and containing evidence. Was the drone flyer acting unlawfully, that is an enquiry which could be undertaken by simple questioning. AS for the Daily Mail trope, I have found that ALL media will produce an item which is never fully questioned, or if the facts don't fit the bias of the journalist then they get ignored.
