  1. We all.know that Rudolph has a bright red shiny nose. Right behind Rudolf is Bruno. He has a bron nose. He is as fast as Rudolf, just cannot stop as quick.
  2. Probably no help at all but converted mine to electric. 4 Max PO 5055 595 on a 4s. Ruddy marvellous
  3. This incident was correctly reported. It was suggested that the industrial area usedsome kind of jammer to prevent mobile phone use and also initmated that 'walkie talkies' used on site had the same frequency. The building and roof are all steel. Failsafe do not overcome gravity. The model hit the rear doors of a parked unattended articulted trailer. Other models have suffered similar radio brownouts in that particular area on varying occassions. The pilot is very experienced. Whilst pilot error is always a consideration how many of us have lost/crashed a model and never had definitive proof of its cause.
  4. I understand that outdoor activitities are now considered in planning applications and indeed favoured. Apparently our hobby is considered such. Maybe worthwhile reminding the law makers.
  5. I visited the show on Sunday not having booked on line I paid £20. I don't know what the previous days were like or whether stall holders left on Saturday evening but I was dismayed to see the lack of traders. Those that were there clearly had bought smaller pitches. I did hear one stall holder saying that shipping a container cost £15K so they had to make sure they had a full container to make it worth while ordering and cost were obviously passed on to the customer. That probably explains the paucity of goods/items for sale. The swap meet items, I imagine most bargains had gone earlier, i thought seemed rather pricey. No doubt a reflection on the upwards trend in prices for new gear. There didn't seem to be that many people about, though I did get there before 10 and left shortly after 11. Unimpressed. Not impressed, Hope its just a glitch and things return to normal in 2022
  6. would that be the one lowered from the magic carpet !!
  7. Re Cuban 8's response, Yeah no doubt expensive but what happens then is the items go to a recycling centre where they are repaired and serviced by the appropriate people and then put back on the market at a reasonable price. I can remember repairing toastesr back in the 60's at an Electricity Board workshop. (When we had Electricity Boards and proper apprenticeships) I remember repairing a Hoover Keymatic (washing machine) for a lady whose husband had a terminal illness and couldnt afford a new machine or repair. The parts were donated and we worked on it out of hours.
  8. Its certainly true we wont be going back to a less regulated hobby. As for drone delivery, think for one moment, one drone per parcel (weight will be a limiting factor) ! One van many parcels .
  9. I have some belly landers, generally foam or depron. Some have a thin strip of plastic or glass to prevent damage to the foam or depron. I have found that using plastic zip ties is an ideal way of preventing damage. The ridged side is great for the glue. I have the Flite test Bloody Barron and have glued some long zip ties to the bottom of the exposed depron. Work fine. Thinking about it my even by ideal on the leading edge of the tail fin !!
  10. I recently contacted the NFU (National Farmers Union) to see if they could aid in identifying a farmer who would consider a club on their property. Lo a reply was received and query being put out to Farmers in our region. Might be worth considering for those who may be loosing their site
  11. I think it should be run as an achievement, passed by a regional examiner and club examiner acting together. Committees can be cliquee and hold bias. It shouldn't happen but it does. Maybe it should be renewable after x years. The other issue is trying to get examiners and candidates together, in very similar vein to tutors. I know how difficult it is to arrange for both. It would be helpful if examiners could let clubs in their region know how far they would be prepared to travel to take tests. Candidates perhaps defraying travelling costs. An other suggestion would be for clubs to notify there regional examiner how many candidates they have and a joint date and location be arranged or even examiners stating perhaps a number of dates they would be available to conduct tests during the year. This can be hosted on the BMFA website.
  12. Fran v Port. 3 penalties, really? None in my view
  13. No "No millionaires kicking a bag of wind about" BUT millionaires sitting in studios pontificating on the millionaires on the pitch.
  14. Its truly brill. And the kids all seem to have their heads on, the older ones anyway. The youngsters are having the best of times, they just dont know it. I heard on the radio this afternoon about a plan to release beavers on a river in Devon. The locals were being sounded out about the project, most were in favour, then I heard one woman who said she and her partner/ husband had purchased about 5 acres of land so their kids could use it to play in. Apparently slightly wooded but low lying and if it gets flooded there were few places to camp, so she wasnt happy about the idea. Sheessshh how the other half (?) live.
  15. RAF Airbus 400 from Naples into Birmingham. Odd. Very few swallows, seen more Jays about than previous years and recently heard a cuckoo!
  16. I suspect some shows will remain and maybe comps will be split into their various disciplines and held at assorted venues and dates giving their followers an opportunity to continue. That said when the disciplines are mixed and held together it presents people to see what others do and gives the potential for them to question the 'experts' before maybe commiting themselves to a new type of flying. I have always thought that Manston aerodrome would make a good venue, downside being its location.
  17. If you can afford a shroud you havent spent enough.....
  18. I have noticed an interest in new members wishing to join. In the main people coming back to the hobby though also had a couple of enquiries from people wishing to take it up. Maybe lockdown will have caused an uptake from people looking for something new. By the same token some of the older members seem reluctant to come back to the field. Think it will be a strange year, with lack of events which doesnt help as those looking to take up the hobby have not had an opportunity to attend, see, hear and ask questions.
  19. I replaced one of mine with a rectangle of aluminium, beauty of which yo can have more than one motor mount set of holes. So far so good. All my depron models I use a 3d printed mount. I did use credit card cut to size and sandwiched depron between, however todate the 3d printed option works well.
  20. Its going fwd with some lead in the nose. I will put the result up following flight.
