This looks like another case of a trade seller leaving a listing running whilst he has run out of stock but setting the price to a ridiculous level to ensure nobody buys it. Apparently it's cheaper to do that than to close the listing and then restart it when more stock becomes available. Check the purchase history for the item and you'll see that he sold a few in Aug/Sept 2015 for £15 a go, then some more in December 2015 for £9.99 each and finally more in June/July 2016 at £14 each. Peter Miller
A club member has just asked whether it would be worth looking at this. It is only 15 miles away. I told him that it wasn't worth the cost of the petrol but t is a good laugh. Look at the sellers other items. The Veco engine is a total wreck. Martin Dance 1
Peter, you misunderstand. The man is a specialist, in selling junk found in a very damp garage! Each item he is selling is unique. For example the bench rebate plane Stanley no 10 appears to be broken on the right side of the casting and the cutting iron is pretty much worn out. The first rebate plane without its cutters is effectively worthless unless you happen to have some cutters. In fact in my area with our new waste collection and recycling regime the bin men could well refuse to take the Pitts special and the Veco 61!! Peter Miller
Remind me, who was it who wrote that rather neat article, "Don't bin it, fix it"? True, true! Bur I do wonder how much rot there is inside. I will repair my own models and some others but there are limits. And bearing in mind the stae of theVeco 61. Not worth wasting money on it. Peter Miller
Last year there were three of four Chinese sellers offering brand new engines atgive away prices. Several people including me paid up. WE did get our money back but it was a scam as we suspected.

Robin Colbourne
I rather fancied this Catalina. However the low 'buy it now', with free postage from China, and a decidedly non-oriental looking background gave the whole thing a distinct aroma of rodent. **LINK**
John Privett
A zero feedback seller whose 'name' is 3 letters followed by 8 digits hardly reduces the rodent aroma either!
Keith Sharples
Hi Robin. Looking at the ebay post, a few things don't ring right, it ended on 26th May! the seller has no feedback rating at all! the picture looks UK to me. All in all leave well alone, don't forget that Ebay now protects the purchaser with a full refund if any problem with the seller cant be solved amicably. I ordered a battery bank for portable phone charging etc on Ebay. Like the Catalina it was a stupid price (to good to be true £5.95 same model with others was £15.00) but ordered it anyway from China. A few hours later I had an email from Ebay them selves saying that they had removed the item from sale as the account holders account had been hacked! I was advised to contact the seller and ask for a refund. It then came to light that the account holder was in France and it was hacked by someone in China. Anyway I contacted the listed seller/account holder in france and they responded to Ebay. I then got a full refund from Ebay, that happened over the course of approximately 12hrs so a good outcome It can take longer though! With the Catalina I would leave well alone. All the best Keith

Robin Colbourne
I just searched with a few key words from the Catalina advert, and look what comes up! Note the 'Chinese' flag hanging fom the ceiling in the third & fourth photos... **LINK**
