jonryan
I think those are full-size ailerons, from an actual 1:1 model...

Daithi O Buitigh
Posted by Peter Miller on 28/02/2017 19:29:54: They are so possibly worth it Especially as there are 6 of them - that works out at just over 40 quid per aileron (and I did notice that at least one had the horn fitted)
John Privett
But he says there are "at least 6". So, are there 6? Or 7? Maybe 8? It doesn't inspire much confidence in the seller if he apparently has difficulty counting once the numbers get bigger than 5...

But there are aircraft restorers who might want them.
Jimbo565
Looks like I owe an apology, first glance just looked like a tatty model.
Andrew Price 2
Apparently they are full scale and supposedly off Moths that had been used for cropdusting. Apparently, they have been in the corner of a hanger for some 40 years. The seller states that they will need recovering and the structure will need checking over!! Cant see why on earth he's saying that.
Peter Miller
THis one is interesting. An OS Max FP and probably worth the asking price as it looks to have had very little use But I like the way the nose has just been sawn off in one piece and all the servo plugs are missing.. Could this be a lost model found?? **LINK**
John Privett
That's a strange one Peter! If a non-flyer has found it I can kind of understand them sawing the front off - if it looks like that's the "valuable" end and the rest of the fuz is just a crumpled mess. But cutting off the servo plugs? Weird!
Denis Watkins
£40 is way way too much boys, that would be a tenner at Barkston!
Peter Miller
I believe that FPs are quite desirable, unlike LAs to those who know
Denis Watkins
You are absolutely right Peter, FPs are a good motor, its just that particular one could have been up a tree for a year and does look a mess It will clean up, but you would get a clean motor cared for at £40, not from. a tree The appearance of absolutely no care, for whatever length of time really drops its value
Peter Miller
Therre is no corrosion on it and the wood looks pretty good too. Admittedly the servos do not look to good

David Davis
I'm pretty pleased with my OS 40FP which I boughtas an eBay purchase from an elderly couple in the Brecon Beacons. It belonged to their son who had left home and given up the hobby. I have it installed in a SLEC Fun Fly. At first it was a bit of a barker until I fitted a Just Engines Super Quiet silencer. I use the model as a general sport flyer and an advanced trainer for those beginners who are not quite A Cerificate standard. £40 is about as much as I'd expect to pay for an FP. £20-£25 would be nearer the mark for one in that condition. David Davis
PS. £40-£45 is the going rate for a good 40-52 four-stroke. There are lots of nice second-hand two-strokes available for even less.
Peter Miller
Well I have to say that I watch for four stroke on Ebay and haven't seen any down as low as that, Even the pre4 Surpass 40s go for more that that £70 seems tbe the going rate
Peter Miller
I see that the OS FP engine price has droped to £25. Maybe the seller is watchig this forum

Don Fry
I am part of the teaching process is a petrolhead, I told him to do electric, but to engine his plane I sold him a long hour FP 40. It goes like a watch, but 30 Euro was the price.
Bob Cotsford
From my experiences buying small four strokes it's often cheaper to buy a complete model with engine than it is to buy the same engine advertised on it's own! If the airframe is airworthy then it's just a bonus.
