John Privett
A year or two ago (more like eleven, actually!) I spotted a Gnat at North Weald. A quick look at Wiki suggests the 3 "Red Gnats", plus another Gnat are based there. I've no idea whether the one I saw there was any of those! Keiran Arnold
HI John, Yes it was, they were all flying at the Wadington Air Show at the weekend Edited By Keiran Arnold on 07/07/2014 12:19:
IanN
Posted by John Privett on 05/07/2014 19:35:39: I'm noticing smaller aircraft appearing on flightradar24 than in the past.................. presumably the ADS-B gear is increasingly being fitted on private aircraft as well as commercial. Today I spotted several gliders on flightradar24, all apparently flying out of the Scottish Gliding Centre near Kinross. I don't know if there's a major event going on there, or if it's just "regular" club gliders there that are now kitted-out with ADS-B. I'd agree with that, re gliders. Here in Bucks I generally "see" quite a few i.d.'d as ASWs to the west and northwest (out towards Oxford way) on flightradar24
DB
Heard the sound of a prop aircraft yesterday evening looked out and saw what appeared to be a Lockheed Constellation floating past in all its glory. Was I imaging things? This was over Aylesbury about 6.30pm. Cheers DB Edited By DB on 14/07/2014 22:29:
John Privett
There was one listed for the Flying Legends airshow at Duxford at the weekend. I had intended to go but didn't as the weather forecast on Friday night was constantly changing for Saturday and I didn't fancy a 4-hour round trip to sit in the rain watching the clouds go by. Turned out to be a nice day though by all accounts! So the one you saw over Aylesbury was almost certainly heading home (or on to the next show) from Duxford. It would have been the Breitling Super Constellation.
DB
Hi John, Thanks for that I didn't even realise there was still one flying. Beautiful sight and sound though. DB

Mike Etheridge 1
Today a Harvard I think judging from the engine sound. It was flying in a westerly direction towards Kenley, I could just see it but the low beat of the engine which droned on for some time convinced me it was not a Spitfire or similar. Prop Nut
Today I was mowing the lawns and heard a very distinctive sound over the noise of the rotary. Looking up, I saw a Gloster Meteor and a DH Vampire flying south about ten miles from Oxford, around 1,000 feet altitude. Anyone know where they might have been en route from/to? John Privett
Almost certainly en route to or from Farnborough. They're flying together there at 12:30 tomorrow and Sunday, so were probably flying there today too.
Andrew Price 2
I seem to remember a Vampire flying around over the ex RAF Abingdon some while ago. Very nice it looked too.
mightypeesh
I am such a luck chap. At about 3.30 today in sunny Dymchurch in Kent I heard a gorgeous deep rumble outside, and I was out like a shot. My wife and I ran out and saw the two Lancasters flying low and directly overhead complete with two Spitfires, one clipped as an escort. What a once in a lifetime sight, absolutely fantastic....... and the sound....... I cannot say enough how amazing this sight and sound was! Cheers, a very happy Simon
John Privett
Simon, today they were appearing at Eastbourne, Littlestone (Kent) and Headcorn (also Kent.) Now I know where Eastbourne and Headcorn are, but I've never heard of Littlestone - I'd guess you saw them en route between two of those displays. They're back at Eastbourne and Headcorn again tomorrow - plus flypasts at Kenley (Surrey), and Herne Bay and Whitstable in Kent, so it's possible your once in a lifetime sight could be repeated. They're also doing a display at Sywell tomorrow, plus flypasts (in addition to the Kent/Surrey ones I mentioned) at Woburn Abbey, Wyton (Cambridgeshire), Ramsey and Peterborough. Monz
They've been based at Biggin for the Eastboune show.
John Privett
They have - though they departed this morning for Southend and were based there today - apparently to avoid strong cross-wind conditions at Biggin. I think they're back at Conningsby tonight.
mightypeesh
Hi John, thanks for the heads up. I will be hot-footing it over to Hearne Bay to see the fly past there. cannot wait. Oh and Littlestone is just along the coast a bit towards Dungerness. Cheers, Simon
LPP
I'd keep am eye on here first. before setting off. They went back to Coningsby last night.
mightypeesh
Gutted. All cancelled due to high winds (maybe still Sywell though). Cheers, Simon
John Privett
Yes, Kenley website confirms cancellation of the Lancasters and the earlier flypast of the BBMF Spitfire and Hurricane "because of adverse weather conditions". Rob Jones 2
I live not too far from Hurn Airport, so get to rush outside when there is an unusual engine sound. A couple of biplanes ( a moth type and a dh rapide type) and the red arrows in the last month. Most days we also get two executive jets, sometimes flying in close formation. Plus all 4 days of Bournemouth Air Show for free at the end of the month! Edited By Rob Jones 2 on 18/08/2014 08:21:

Spice Cat
The two Lancasters flew over the strip whiclst I was mowing it the other day and an hour later they came back. Then a Dakota flew nearby. The following day it was the Red Arrows twice. What treats.
Kelly
The Police helicopter seems to be around quite a bit at low level. Looks good all lit up at night . The Air ambulance landed in the park down the road to take a stab victim to Hospital a few months ago . Not so good .
cymaz
Red arrows flew over Bodmin about 17.30 on the way to the Royal Fowey Regatta.
