Colin Leighfield
Next one Tony could be the Republic "Thunderscreach" F84 variant, with the supersonic flight prop (didn't work)? Have a look at that one. The sound effects could be a challenge as well.
Tony Bennett
right 1/4 scale is just under 10ft wingspan, so that's the plan. electric of course. all depron apart from the area's that will need wood or carbon for strength. two piece fuselage with the wing center section fixed and the wings from the nacelles outwards removable. retracts. want to get the covering better this time and try to add some scale details (unlike the tsr2 which is just meh) i shall be removing as much depron as poss to get the weight as low as i possibly can, be great if i could get it under 5kg once completed. we shall have to see. Colin Leighfield
This is going to be really interesting, an inspired choice.
Dave Hopkin
Will be watching with interest, despite putting props on my favorite aircraft seems like an act of vandalism, its an interesting subject and I want to get my head round this Depron stuff
Terry Walters
Tony - Another one to watch - you make sure I don't get any free time for building don't you!! Very interesting choice too. Terry
Mowerman
An interesting choice, not often modeled. There was one at a competition (world champs?) in the USA some time back Will be watching. Colin Leighfield
This was the world's first actual flying turbo-prop and apparently it worked really well from the start. For some reason at a later stage they reduced the propeller diameters quite a lot, I don't know why, unless they were experimenting with the balance between thrust from the prop and the jet exhaust. The Germans had some interesting project proposals for turbo-prop combat aircraft, but none of them ever flew and I don't know if a test engine was ever flown by them at all. I'm sure some other forumite will know something about it. Edited By Colin Leighfield on 01/11/2014 11:44:
Tony Bennett
not started this one yet honest. but i was curious as to how big it was going to be, sooooooooooooooooooo i cut out the nose section, just to see you understand. and well. it's going to be a little bit larger than the tsr2. Tony Bennett
well i have used up the few formers i cut, i need to cut more now to go between the ones i cut from the 3 view i had. then we can look at the cockpit area and think about how it will fix to the rest of the fuselage. though i need to crack on and get the tsr2 finished first. john stones 1 - Moderator
Ooooh that's a big one, what you made to cut the holes in with Tony ? John
Tony Bennett
i got an ali wing tube sharpened at each end. give it a twist and a push and voila a hole is cut, repeat endlessly until your hand cramps up and your eyes go squiffy. collect all the loose bits of foam and chuck round the room like confetti. sweep up madly before the misses comes home and gives you a slap round the ear for being silly. Peter Miller
From personal experience if you weighed all those little round bits you might have trouble actually seeing any measurement on the scales. Even with balsa they would probably not weight more than 5 or six grams.
