Monz
Tony, have you put a cross piece through the ali, like a T-bar to help with the twisting? Peter is right, the weight saving versus effort expended is negligible, especially on depron models.
Tony Bennett
but it looks kool. i have saved on average 1gm on each former so far. if i can save the weight of a couple of servos it all helps.

Tony Bennett
100 formers at 1gm each thats the pilot sorted.
Simon Chaddock
If you really want to save weight both the longitudinal and horizontal fuselage 'patterns' are structurally redundant once the skin is on over the formers. You just have to find a way to build the fuselage without them!

Terry Walters
I've worked it out Tony. You are really making depron discs for crafting and other purposes - just in time for Xmas too - you'll make a killing! Good work Tony - fascinating as ever! Colin Leighfield
Oh boy! The downside of Depron addiction is a kind of cold turkey when you try to stop building. The symptoms are quite frightening and you have to let yourself down slowly with a bit of blue foam, but be careful how you do it.
Tony Bennett
planning the next one. he he he smaller this time.

Tim A
Look out Tony's cleaned up the World's balsa supply now he's going to wrap up all the Depron. Spruce Goose a mere midget.
Dave Hopkin
It struck me that the ANO's 7kg limit might need reconsidering I guess it was laid out as a cut off limit for a "large model" before new materials like Depron entered the market,,,,,,,,,,,,, Either that or we have to set up a branch of Depron Anonymous near Tony........ Tony Bennett
yes i did wonder about the size and the 7kg weight limit. but this is a one off experiment and i wont be building any more this size, its just too big for my storage area. if it does not work as a model i will donate the airframe to a museum or collection. i have decided in future to limit all future models to 80" wingspan max.
