Edgeflyer
I need some to create a belly landing protector after the original failed. The material is just like the old Fairy Liquid bottles. Any ideas what to use? It has to be flexible and able to be glued in place.
Rich Griff
I sense a "wonder around Tesco/Aldi " expedition coming up....😀 Have a look in your recycle box.
Brian Sweeting 1
Hate to say it but Google has a vast answer to the question "small flexible plastic bottle".
Gary Manuel
White Gaffa Tape is pretty durable.
Don Fry
Why not glass it. A layer or so of 25 gsm woven cloth will do the job.
Edgeflyer
Yes thanks for the replies and I was thinking glass fibre might do it.
Andy Stephenson
I've heard of self-adhesive Velcro being used as it's made from polypropylene, which is extremely wear resistant and it's easily replaceable if it gets dirty.
Edgeflyer
I've found fibreglass to be brittle in landing shocks. Still looking at bottle plastics.
Keith Billinge
What about ID card plastic it's easily formed round a shape with a bit of heat and they can be had dead cheap on evil bay or free of you use old gift cards... KB
Edgeflyer
I need plastic about 20cm X 12 cm to cut the shape I need. I think a cylindrical 1 litre bottle would give me the size.
Robin Colbourne
How about a piece of a PET fizzy drink bottle? If you abrade the face which will be against the model until it is opaque, then clean it with isopropyl alcohol or meths, it should stick with something like Foam 2 Foam adhesive. If you want double curature, use a piece from near the top of the bottle. Failing that, plastic toothpaste tube material appears to be very tough and flexible. Edgeflyer
Thanks for the tip. I was wondering about toothpaste tubebut it's pretty thin. I've found roll on deodorant bottle makes good small fairings or air scoops as it's very strong.

It has to be strong, given the state of some people's armpits
