mightypeesh
absolutely beautiful job, love the masking for the markings. Look forwards to seeing it in the air!
leccyflyer
Thanks Simon, your FW190 was an inspiration and thanks for the fan STL. It was only the second time that I've used the CNC cut Oramask material, but I'm very pleased with how well it works, despite it being quite fiddly to get the mask elements back in exactly the right place for each colour.

leccyflyer
Thanks Dave - your Butcher Bird was also an inspiration and really captured the essence of the aeroplane. 😎 I think overall these models have achieved everything that Richard and the crew wished for them. I'm really looking forward to the maiden flight.
leccyflyer
Waterslides made up and applied, plus a bit of light weathering - coloured pencil dust in grey, brown and black applied with the finger, along the edges of a piece of acetate sheet where needed to simulate grime, streaking back from panel lines, exhaust staining, soot from the machine guns and a bit of thrown mud from the dummy wheels. Then all given a blow over with satin finish WBPU to fix those in place. I prefer just the lightest of weathering, just to accentuate certain panel lines. I haven't represented any worn paint, but may choose to do so after she's flown. Got to love those German labels - Nur Heir Betreten - Don't be Treading Here! All of out excuses to delay flying the model now bar the weather - on and haven't attempted to balance the model yet, until all the painting and spraying was completed.

RICHARD WILLS
Looks brilliant Brian . I am so impressed with the level of finish with the 190s . Lots of variety in the colour schemes which is also inspiring for the next wave of builders . I like your trim tabs . Nice touch .
leccyflyer
Thanks guys. Actually they would be a nice "Don't Touch" - Nicht Anfessen! 🙂

leccyflyer
Balance point with my 4s1p 3300mah Zee Power packs is at least 10mm back from the recommended 70mm from F2. Rather than just add a chunk of church roof, I've ordered a couple of higher spec 4s1p 4000mah packs, which are about the same dimensions, give or take a mm , but weigh 60-80g more than my choice of 3300mah packs. If that doesn't do it, then it'll be adding some lead into the cowl. I expect when the time comes to fit the retracts that will allow the removal of some of that weight. Ron Gray
If you go back and read my posts on the 190 you will see that the C of G can go back at least 20mm from that shown on the drawings.
leccyflyer
Thanks Ron - it's been a while, but I should have done that, so I'll maybe not read the church roof after all - the extra several hundred mah will be very useful though.
Ron Gray
I fly mine using CNHL 4s 3700mAh packs and no nose weight (I did have to start with but removed it all) and get 8 minute flight times.

I’m flying mine with a 2200mAh 4s and no nose weight and it flies beautifully. Seems that the airframe is very tolerant of a rearward CG shift.
leccyflyer
Maiden flight for Black 13 today and I'm still smiling several hours later. I added about 40g of lead in two pieces to the inside of the nose ring, which put the balance point at about 80mm back, based on Ron's comments above, bearing in mind all of the cockpit detail is well behind the CG. That's with 4s1p 4000mah HRB batteries. AUW is just a tad under 5lbs. I took a prile of FW190s to the field, with some bottle building flights with my Parkzone 1100mm FW190 to kick off a bit of a murky day and reminding me of what a superb little machine that is. The plan was to fly that, then get a few flights in with my slightly larger Balsacraft FW190 off the dolly, which is also a good flyer and gives the dolly a good workout. Unfortunately I'd forgotten that the BC FW190 is on my DX7, due to having an older receiver and I'd omitted to bring that with me. I was a little concerned at the ground clearance comparing my old faithful dolly to some of the other, much taller configurations, with the largish 12x8" prop, but as it turns out it was good as gold, tracked beautifully and the Butcher Bird lifted off from the dolly with minimal intervention on my part. What a model 🙂- flying characteristics are superb, literally not a single click of trim needed and grooved around the sky in the usual warbirds style manoeuvres with style - beautifully balanced controls and stable as a very stable thing, plus looks superb in the air. I can't say how impressed and pleased I am, brilliant! No flying pictures yet, but I'm expecting some in a few days, so just a few static shots for now. One nice bonus, that I only discovered this morning, was that the FW190 fits the top deck model carrier fully rigged, which is fantastic, as it means I can take at least three similar sized models to the field.
