Basil
I have purchased a Spektrum DX8e. It has wireless trainer facility ( For use as a master), and no jack plug facility . The binding described in the manual is for use as a master. My question is; 'Can the DX8e be used as a slave TX with a non wireless trainer set up ?'. Simple question. toto
Hi Bas, I don't have any experience with the DX8e but don't see any reason why not. It will depend on what you are using as a master. If its another Spektrun transmitter with the wireless ability then I'd say, it doesn't matter which is the master and which is the slave. A bit like my Nx8 and Nx6, either could be used as master or slave with each other. You always go into the deeper menu with the master to select wireless binding and the slave you simply have set to bind ready to hit the two bind buttons with each other ........ if that makes sense. Just remember to always have the actual model switched off ( receiver ) otherwise your transmitter will try to bind to the models receiver. Hope that helps a bit as an attempt from a newbie answer. Toto Hi Toto,I believe you are referring to a wireless to wireless situation. I am talking old style TX ( ie cable connection) as a master to a new wireless as a slave situation. The DX8e is somewhat different re binding situations. Thanks though!!! Bas

Outrunner
Basil, how are you going to connect your DX8e to another Tx non-wireless if it doesn't have a jack plug socket?
toto
Hmmmm ...... that was my thoughts. You either need dual wired TX's or dual wireless. Unless one has both .... like the Spektrum NX8 and NX6. Toto

Don Fry
What is the other half of the pair? I’m no great shakes at messing with radios, but ASSUMING the dx8e wants to communicate with some other trani, it uses blue tooth or whatever, ie radio waves. If the other half hasn’t got a blue tooth receiver, if it wants to talk, needs a blue tooth gongle. I'm not aware such things exist.

Basil
Gentlemen, it as I thought , there is no way a connection can be made. It was through desperation that I posed this question hoping that someone may have a solution. Many thanks. Bas
Frank Skilbeck
Bas, what's the master tx? Could you swap roles and make the Dx8e the master. I do a fair bit of instructing and must admit I much prefer wireless over wired.

I dont think its possible, logic really , when you think about it. Many thanks to you all. Bas

The DX8e has a built in receiver which you bind the slave Tx to just like you would to a model. The slave Tx doesn't have to be wireless trainer capable, only the master Tx. Bind the older tx to the DX8 Similar set up as we use in our club.
Frank Skilbeck
As Shaun and GG have noted I've done this with a Dx6e as the master and an old DSM2 Dx6I as the buddy, note I had to update the firmware on the Dx6e to get it to work but then it was fine. Note that the receiver in the plane will need to be a DSMx to work with the Dx8e. What is the older tx?
