  1. I don't think it's an overheating problem as you said your esc let the smoke out on connection. If you're using 6s lipo you might want to fit anti-spark connectors, not sure if having sparks wrecks ESC's though...
  2. The longest part of repairing that elevator is waiting for the glue to dry. You've already had some helpful tips on how to fix it. Fix it, fly it.
  3. I've got the smaller version of the Tasman, the Glastar 1300mm. I usually build my own models but I wanted an all weather hack and the Glastar fitted the bill. It flies perfectly with no trim adjustments need on the maiden. There is no rats nest of wires but it doesn't have flaps so less wires. The only changes I've made is replace the prop with a APCe 11x6 and swapped the silly big wheels with some normal foam wheels. I use a 4s 3000mAh battery and fly 10 minutes on a pack . Great model and I'm sure the bigger version will be just as good. Good luck with yours Toto.
  4. You think this is bad, I used to frequent the Model Engineer forum (also Morton's) the ME site now it has been updated is dire and understandably the users are throwing thier toys out. The ME forum has become the worst forum site I have ever visited and very rarely go there now. Probably the same techies that run this place too.
  5. Still not working for me, popping all over the place
  6. Nice Rover David but it won't be ULEZ compliant
  7. You just need to have your smart phone on you, navigation not required, the millions of CCTV cameras will confirm your movement
  8. Your 40A ESC's are big enough. The 63A figure is shared between 4 controllers so each one is is seeing 15.75A What model are they going in?
  9. Thanks cymaz, looks like a great idea 👍
  10. Interesting jig cymaz, can you explain how it works as I'm a fan of pin hinges but it can be a challenge to get them in-line. My favourite method is to clamp the leading and trailing edges together before they are built up and drill through both of them at the same time and I end up with perfectly aligned hinges. Wouldn't work for Fowler flaps though.
  11. Gary was making statements as he's entitled to, then denied making them. You have to stand by your word
  12. Looks fantastic John! I'm following in awe. I really like those old airplanes with folding wings.
  13. My Balsacraft 48" Spitfire stopped breaking props when I switched from my usual ACPe to a 2 bladed Graupner cam prop. Lovely model by the way, just like Richard's new warbirds, very light no undercarriage or flaps or rudder, pity they don't make them anymore.
  14. Let's hope we never need to know anything about the wretched things.....
  15. Well I've completed my CAA review form and I must confess that I mostly cut and paste my answers from the BMFA putting my faith in them, although I did change the wording on some answers. I don't think it will make a blind bit of difference to what will happen in the future as I believe this is just another government department box ticking exercise and they have already decided what is going to happen, but at least I did my bit. I'm alarmed with the attitude of some people who just roll over at any bit of proposed legislation and not a least question; why should I have to do this?
  16. You've had about 10 if them! The mind boggles! What are you doing with them?
  17. Have you checked the esc to motor connections? I've had a similar problem a couple of times and turned out to be duff joins in the esc/motor connectors being held together mainly with heat shrink.
  18. Well done Richard, your pusher Gyroo looks really nice 👍 RCM&E plan next year?
  19. Not even worth buying a kit, a bunch of wing ribs cutout around a template, 3 ply formers, tip profiles from 1/4" medium balsa and lots of sticks cut from a sheet of 1/4" hard balsa and you can make a kit. Download the plan from Outerzone.
  20. Bit less than the Sarik parts! £71 won't even buy the cut parts! Plus £98 For the extra wood pack. I could probably cut out all the parts in 3 or 4 hours, not quite as nice as the laser cut parts but they will still make a nice model.
