bouncebounce crunch
There are good ways, easy ways and great ways of doing things So what Aeromodelling book would you put on top? (not mag) but genuine book. NO puting down, only genuine enjoyment and respect for others said book please.
Tony H
I'm a fan of all Peter Millers books, How to design a model aircraft, An aeromodellers handbook of Essential tips and techniques vol 1/2 & High flying on a low budget.
Peter Miller
Gordon Whitehead's Scale Models for Sunday Flying is superb, covers everything that you could need to know. Pity it is out of print. Dave Thornburg's "The Old Buzzard's Soaring Book". Really great and full of humour. Covers flying and designing. Ernie
Yes, Gordon whitehead by a mile (sorry Peter) ernie
IanN
Obviously dated now but Ron Moulton's "Control Line Manual" is a great example of what an aeromodelling book should be. Covers everything from basics to advanced in a logical progression, and an entertaining read to boot. I've been looking for the Gordon Whitehead book mentioned above as I had heard good reports. In the interim I bought the more readily available SImon Delaney's "Scale Problems Solved" and didn't regret it - plenty of useful stuff in that one

John Cole
Model Aircraft Aerodynamics, Martin Simons. £9.56 from Amazon
Terry Walters
You can find Gordon Whitehead's book here - second hand. Just over £30. There are some jokers asking over £300 for it elsewhere! Terry
MikeS
Rc scale problems solved by Simon Delaney. Best book I have read while building the P47.Mike
001
'R/C Sports aircraft from scratch', by Alex Weiss is very good, covers the basics and presents calculations in a graphic form, i.e. not much maths needed. Easy to understand.
Lindsay Todd
Gordon Whitehead again, plus I have others by Dave Boddington and Peter Miller. All good without needing a phd to understand and thats important for me! Linds

Martian
How about this for an oldie The Complete Book of the Model Aeroplane by Norman G Taylor . covers from how an aeroplane flies to how to plot aerofoil sections and more but no RC models , had it for years maybe since aged 16 . The knowledge doesn't change to much but the presentation does
kc
Didnt I see some new book from Martin Simons recommended somewhere? I cannot find it on Aazon or Waterstones. Anybody know about it? I agree with Peter, Ernie& Terry that Gordon Whiteheads book is the best and it's mostly applicable to non scale too. But the correct title is Radio Control Scale Aircraft Models for Everyday Flying ( not ' Sunday' unless there is a religous version too.........) But David Boddingtons 'Scale Model Aircraft for Radio Control' is equally good and quite different but rather more advanced.. For a beginner then any of David Boddingtons other books are very useful, and so are Peter Millers books. But most books are so out of date regarding brushless motors & Lipo that there is nothing to recommned for electric. A chance for someone to write a bang up to date book perhaps..........Tim ( either of them ) or Nigel perhaps......
Broken Prop
Alistair Sutherland's seminal work: 'Basic Aeronautics for Modellers'. A good reference book. I now understand why and how I crash, but am still unable to predict when...... For glider guiders, George Stringwell's 'Complete Guide to Radio Controlled Gliders'. Originally published in 1997 so a bit dated, but the principles still apply.
Devon Flyer
I seem to recall Gordon telling me that he has his book saved in PDF format and could burn it to disc, if I wanted a copy. Might be worth having a word with him to see if it is available?
jeff2wings
The RM Propo Book, taught me how to install the radio and set up the controls as a 15 year old kid , with no one to get advice from it was invaluable, and this was when you had to do it manually, not just jam it in any nook & cranny like now, then scroll through a menu to make it all work properly, not that’s a totally a bad thing, but there’s no substitute for good control horn geometry
Bob Bertram
Traplet have some of the books on offer till the end of the month, have ordered the Peter Miller ones.
Daithi O Buitigh
My 'bible' for many years now was Ron Moulton's 'Flying Scale Models' - it may be old, but it never went out of date (I ended up having to buy a replacement copy recently - my original one fell apart)

David Boddingtons Scale Model Aircraft for Radio Control, now that was expensive £3.40 inc £2.00 P&P Ebay, I bet I have read it before. kc
Boddo's 'Scale model Aircraft for Radio Control' is a great book......if you have bought it then you wont want to part with it! But if it's a duplicate then pass it on to a clubmate. It's out of print but still so useful.
Danny Fenton
not a book granted but still a great source for scale modellers are the Dave Platt Videos.
kc
I was hoping that the series of great articles on building planes that appeared in Model Flyer ( or was it AMI ) would be published as a book. The articles showed every possible technique & little trick and went on for several years. I dont know who wrote them but wonder if there is any chance of him making it into a book.
