john stones 1 - Moderator
Well I see a few Chippie builders are willing to join, I don't know how numbers look compared to previous years at this stage, but I do know leaves are falling from trees and clocks go forward soon...(thought i'd cheer you up) John
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Posted by john stones 1 on 15/09/2014 13:17:10: I don't know how numbers look The trouble is John - neither do I. Because folks have been posting here like its a chat thread - rabbiting about Jabs and all sorts. Hence its impossible to know. BEB

Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Thanks John - you're a hero. Tomorrow I'll ask David to set up a 2015 Mass Build board. Then we can create a sign up thread, a nominations thread and a chat thread. BEB
Piers Bowlan
BEB, Judging by the amount of participation in the mass build during the last three years it is probably a pretty safe bet to say that there will be interest and participation, this. Does it really matter how many take part, how many models get finished and how many make it to Greenacres in June? The build threads will be of value to those new to the hobby and it will be fun for those that do choose to take part. How many will definitely take part will probably depend on what mass build model/s is ultimately chosen. Your suggestion BEB that there are two categories Sport/Aerobatic is OK except that all my models are sport but some are aerobatic and fast too, so perhaps calling the categories 'floater' and 'rocket-ship' may be more descriptive! For example, the 'floater' might cover vintage type models e.g. 'Jermima' as well as powered gliders 'Red Eagle' while the rocket ship; something like the DW 'Little bit' or TN DH Mosquito 46. When people get the chance to make nominations (hopefully soon) I think the models should be simple, cheap and quick to build in order to have broad appeal. My 2p worth. Oh, and I'm in John so that's 30!

Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Hi Guys, sorry about the slight delay - work and family getting in the way. We should have the nomination thread etc up very soon. BEB
David Davis
Posted by Martian on 18/09/2014 09:37:57: it's got to be done yes at 1/4 scale ,I have thrown down the gauntlet A collection of newly built 1/4 scale models will look great but how many new builders would it attract? Martian
It's just tongue in cheek David no way would I expect it to be a mass build
Tony Bennett
the model needs to be simple to get the new builders interested. and only one model this year as last years had far too many choices. if the old hands want more complicated they can add detail or fancy bits to a simple model. i thought the idea was to get non builders building. a high wing trainer could be converted to a biplane, have flap fitted, scale details, floats, anything that can be thought of to keep the old hands interested. Martian
I agree with you Tony that's why I suggested the Jocasta ,simple straightforward build good flier designed as a trainer plans available now article in mag wot more do you need
TheFlyingCrust
Just before I submit my nomination I note the comment on here by Andyh about any model that comes in a selection of sizes. Has anyone built any of Tim Hooper's Clean Sweep variants with IC power? That'd satisfy BeB's brief for nomination if its easy to do.
