kc
Wings and Wheels at North Weald Essex is scheduled for this weekend 27 & 28 June. It is usually the best show in the south east with loads of trade stands. Are any forum members going? I will be going on the Sunday to avoid the usual horrendous queues caused by the Saturday market on the other end of the site.

Paul Marsh
I'm going. Never was my favourite show- that was Weston Park. Main reason why is that no flying is allowed after the scheduled show has finished and goes dead and boring after that -Weston and the Nats go the opposite. But am on Falcon Aviation stand - my first visit for 10 years... Remember the Swapmeet was good, though. (like the one we do at W.P.) bert baker
Be there all weekend, Not been for a few years, Not since the launch of Weston UK 's Motion Lotion fuel. Probably still the same Bring and Buy used to be good. Bert

Tony Read 2
Did everyone have a good time? The 52% Stearman impressed me. Did a great display with the huge Pitts Python. The full size Spit and P40 were awesome. There was a rumour that the Vulcan was to fly over on the Sunday, but maybe the rain stopped play. Didn't think it was as well attended as previous years, both the traders and spectators appeared down, especially on the Sunday. I came away a lot poorer - bought a load of stuff and had some nice person nick my camping seat! Nice!
Martin Harris - Moderator
If it's any guide, our local model shop owner was priced out (made a loss last year) and on our "traditional" Sunday attendance, I only saw 2 other members of our club where we're normally bumping into a stream of them. As well as the Pitts/Stearman duo, I particularly enjoyed the Grumman Cougar - though it was flown in an utterly realistic manner...and the Jet Blanik glider formation display was pretty special. Gutted I wasn't there at 08.00ish though - I'm told that the three Folland Gnats based at North Weald taxied down to the display end and took off in tight formation! Rafman
I arrived at 9am and the Gnats were just lining up at the end of the runway so I was standing right behind them when the leader went smoke on go and I got kippered. Great sight though. The Vulcan was due to do a fly by but unfortunately because the isolated showers didn't appear to be isolated this was cancelled. The first part of the show was great right up to when the rain started, some brave flyers tried to continue but even they had to give in. After about a two hour wait the show started again but by then most of the show flyers had decided to go home, so it was a limited effort but a select few managed to keep it going and the sun came out so all credit to those people that stayed. Because of the rain I took shelter in the TJD stand and that cost me £150 on an E Flite Yak 54 AS3X 3D machine, it was a good buy though at £100 off the normal price. Jack Banner
I was there on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was sorely tempted by the triple rotor Goblin heli's on the fastlad stand and had a really good chat with Leon on the Belair kits stand. The hostetler 'art Chesters jeep' may well make it to my build list this year.
kc
I went on the Saturday due to the forecast for Sunday. Perfect weather on Saturday and plenty of people there but maybe not as many as previous years. The Bring & Buy was well stocked and good prices too but quite a lot still unsold by evening. It was well worth staying to the end and untill 6pm when the full size Hawker Hunter landed with drogue parachute and all. A good show and I will go again next year - but only if there is a good trade section. Frankly if model traders don't go because the sites are too expensive it is terrible. Everybody paid 10 each to get in and surely that should be enough to allow the genuine model trader sites to be free or at least very reasonable! All the traders get is a small patch of tarmac! Where does the money go? Without the specialist model traders there would be far less spectators.
