John F
Sadly the last flying Vulcan takes to the skies once more at Old Warden then a final tour of the UK before it is beyond its flying hours and is resigned to the museums. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-34411544 There will be a final UK tour next weekend, both south and north of the UK, 10 + 11 Oct, details are still to be announced but can be found here: http://www.vulcantothesky.org/appearances.html
Mark a
558 is not beyond flying hours its the withdrawal of OEM support that's grounding the Vulcan.
John F
Not according to the charity. As well as engineering support being withdrawn - "Charity Vulcan to the Sky Trust, which runs the aircraft, said the plane was beyond its flying hours" from :**LINK** Edited By John F on 03/10/2015 18:53:

If it was out of hours it wouldn't be flying As they say they are flying into the unknown but what the hour limit is now who knows.

ChrisB
Saw Kev displaying her at Gaydon today. Superb with several big howls echoing off the hills! Note the control surface deflection. Chris Barlow
3 from today at Old Warden. Very sad moment but at the same time an excellent farewell display. The surrounding fields were full of people there to see her as well. Flying in escorted by an AVRO Anson The finale was a full throttle low pass down the airfield. Just awesome & brought a tear to my eye, as well as to many others I expect!
Phil Cooke
nice touch with the Anson, what a great pity the BBMF Lancaster is still not quite back on the circuit, we could have had all 3 of Chadwicks designs back in the air together, one last time... Matt Jones and I met up and saw her at Gaydon too.
John F
Lovely photos.. I was in the garden getting stuff tided to go on holiday today. She flew almost overhead with her escort to line up for the display at Old Warden. My wife and I were spellbound as the Vulcan approached three times and turned overhead. Lovely sight. RichB
Couldn't get to either of Sunday's displays, but her planned route passed just a few miles away from my home, so 4.30pm saw me parked in a lay-by with a few other hopeful enthusiasts. Flightradar24 showed her heading our way at around 2500ft and sure enough she appeared with the Skyvan photo ship. To our initial disappointment she was heading a bit North of our location, but then she turned towards us and did two circuits right in front of us, one with the bomb doors open! We couldn't believe our luck. Thanks to the crew for giving us our own private display

Essjay
Let's just hope that the masses heed the message sent out by the local council at Robin Hood airport next weekend or it could be bad news for her last flights. It would be such a shame to deprive the rest of the country from seeing her fly one last time.

Bob Merrett
Does anybody know what time it is due over Staverton (or Glos. Airport) or its take off time please. The South schedule shows +165 min, only I can't see anywhere where it shows the take off time. Thanks!
Area 51
Same here, does anyone know the time she is getting airborne so the schedule can be worked out?
John F
I believe a part of the reason for lack of prior notification is to help stop people from clogging the local roads. There are several warnings which are quite simple to understand "Do not travel to Doncaster", which I think is sensible advice most of the year but is important to avoid roads being clogged around the airport and flight path. Ian101
Just got back from East Midlands Airport. We saw it miles in the distance as it banked away for Derby! Apparently it was atc not letting her through, but all air traffic was on the ground waiting. Somebody who was listening in said it was running low on fuel and requested clearance for 8000 ft. Bye bye Vulcan from several thousand disappointed people who stood there for several hours. I felt really sorry for all of the little children with their Vulcan kit on and souvenirs they had bought. What an empty feeling as we drove home. Do we try Wellsbourne or Bruntingthorpe tomorrow?????????
