Dom (Essential RC)
Not something you see very often ! Two OS 46AX engines pull this Double Vision, designed by Clive Hall, around at an alarming speed. Steve Elias and John Palmer used to fly these models around at the Sandown show many years ago. Some great flying by it's owner, Peter !
Dom (Essential RC)
Latest flight of my 2 metre Avanti sport jet running a Schubeler EDF system. Equivalent to a 90N turbine system so flies well now I have reduced the flight pack to 14S6000. Good practice for Popham Model Show next weekend... Dom (Essential RC)
Mike Williams flying his 40% scale RC Extra 330 via radio control flies with Chris Burkett flying the Extra 300S from the cockpit. In the sky you wouldn't know which was which ! Filmed at Southern Model Show.

Fairly sure the RC Extra 330 was closer to the flight line for most of the display.
Dom (Essential RC)
I had great fun with the original Phase 3 Squall back in 2010. It's back...and it's bigger.
Dom (Essential RC)
I converted the pusher Fattie F-14 to twin 50mm EDF with a 4S4000 pack. Bit heavy on this flight but it flew !
Dom (Essential RC)
And as expected the lighter 4S2700 pack transformed the model. So much fun to fly now !
extra slim
Haha, enjoyed that vid. Looks like you had a direct hit at whatever it was in the corner of the field behind the tree. Good work.
Piers Bowlan
It’s is amazing what will fly with modern EDFs. 👍 I wonder if some larger intakes might improve things further (cheater holes?).

There are already other holes in the side of the fuselage so no other holes needed.

Dom (Essential RC)
Operational air brake and canopy make this F/A-18 that bit more realistic together with some nice flying by Azza at Southern Model Show...
Dom (Essential RC)
After 2 months of 3D printing parts and quite a lot longer to assemble; paint and weather, James' Abrams P-1 Explorer was ready for its first flight. He was just a little nervous but he needn't have been. It was an amazing success ! Dom (Essential RC)
The new FMS Rafale 64mm EDF jet. It's good without the fixed gear and draggy ordnance. But how well does it fly in high alpha ?
SIMON CRAGG
Yet another outstanding video. Thanks for sharing!.
Dom (Essential RC)
Good to have a local supplier of afterburner units in the UK now. AK afterburner works well even on a bright sunny day.
Dom (Essential RC)
Added head tracked FPV to the OMP Decathlon. Was easier than I thought it would be...

Dom (Essential RC)
And actually flying with the FPV goggles. I got disorientated a few times ! So important to have a spotter. Paul De Tourtoulon
That was lucky, the first thing is to film a complete 'flying area', ie take off circuits and landings and then watching them on a screen, this gives you a good view on what you expect to see, the spotter should give you your height in feet / metres it makes it easier to land, I tried the pan and tilt, it isn't for me, anyway a good flight. Dom (Essential RC)
It's my local club and I have flown FPV at it many times. Problem with a biplane is the limited forward view. I need real time telemetry with altitude and a pointer back to home. Got that on other models. Just a bit time consuming to setup.
Geoff S
It should be possible with right kit to link the camera to your head movement which would make it a lt easier to look around. Nevertheless, a very interesting and mostly successful flight at least you got it down smoothly. I find the eyes in your FPV mask a bit unnerving 🙂
