BobW
Here's my latest 3D printed pilot, Baron Otto Von Schnorkel. in my 25 year old Magnatilla which I've been restoring to take part in float plane events. He's on Thingiverse if you want the files. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2845436
Nev
Hi Bob. Initially by accident, I spiralise / vase printed one of these pilots. I soon realised what was going on but let it finish just to see how it turned out and despite the obvious holes surprisingly usable. With a little lightweight filler, your Manfred turned out very good and only 5g including the balsa base, also at 1/6 scale. Nev. Tony Bennett
Flight engineers panel for 1/6th and 1/9th scale Lancasters. Tony B Edited By Tony Bennett on 16/05/2018 20:51:
Simon Chaddock
My second attempt at printing a complete 9 cylinder radial with something like scale thickness cooling fins. It is 125 mm overall diameter and weighs 50 g. The crankcase is completely empty with a 46 mm diameter internal clearance which should be big enough to house an electric motor capable of swinging a scale prop. David Hall 9
I bought a printer a couple of months ago and have made several household items with it. They have got to be quite cheap. I made some tools for my modeling, a nice sanding block that uses that 19mm sandpaper on a roll (awaiting a long threaded rod to arrive in the post), a gear puller, which, of course would be useless for anything stuck fast (but is absolutely great for pulling my folding prop spinners off motors) and several thin cowls for my gliders where a replacement motor is longer than the original or to clean up the nose. All fun learning, I foresee all my servo trays and cowls being made like this. Great for gadgets. As I write, the printer is printing a router jig system that I can use with my Dremel to easily and quickly cut simple holes in foam wings to fit a range of servos. Wouldn't it be good if we could link or upload our designs here?... searching on other websites seems to be a hit and miss exercise.. Martian
You can always upload to thingiverse and provide a link to this forum
FlyinFlynn
Ummm. I thought I had already uploaded this - but apparently not... this is a triangular balsa stripper with two dies, capable of creating 6,9 and 12mm triangular strips from square block. It is not my original design, I just made the storage for the two loose dies. Should be available on thingverse
Ian Jones
A while back it was said that we should somewhere to share our prints. So indeed a group was created at the suggestion forumites as place where designs related to radio controlled flying models can be stored and shared. There's currently 241 members! Have a look at https://www.thingiverse.com/groups/rc-flying-models/things

Ian Jones
This should do: **LINK** The previous one would do a text copy and paste but for some reason the link itself had the ":" removed, anyway, unless it get's removed again then this one should work. Update This one does work Edited By Ian Jones on 01/02/2020 14:55:
Graham R
Just setup my Creality Ender pro. Just need to get to grips with fusion. Good idea to have an rc aircraft group. Hope the links work soon.

Ian Jones
I think you did Kevin but it's nice to be reminded how versitile 3D printing is. Those nose cones - could be quite heavy, what did you use and how did you print the sides?
Kevin Fairgrieve
Nose cone was printed with PLA. Weight 8.4g. Hollow no infill. I think I may try one in vase mode in Cura at some point. The foam nose was removed from the Radjet and weighed in at 3.5g. The above nose will one day go onto my BNIB Radjet. I do like to keep a spare of some models.... Kevin Fairgrieve
Well worth doing. A good weight saving there.
Ron Gray
Got my first 3D printer a couple of weeks ago which means that since then there’s been little building of ‘planes! My first attempt at a pilot bust, 1/6 scale, weighs 19g. Edited By Ron Gray on 06/02/2020 07:45:

Simon Chaddock
As more of an engineer than an "aeronautist" I decided to make a twin cylinder double acting air engine of my earlier single. It makes a very compact layout and would of course be be self starting. A video showing the internals moving. It running on a vacuum cleaner. Interesting more than practical. Richard Forder-Denham
It will never fly, but this is what has been keeping my from my spit! I built a home brew mendelmax alike printer, great fun but I kept looking up at my 3 part built planes hanging above me in the workshop. my new friend kept me busy, I wanted to up production so designed my own printer that I could print, then printed that, so now have two printers. whilst looking at servos for my 3D printed robot, I remembered my Spitfire - Now my printers will be printing Spitfire cannons and arials and air scoops - the fun never ends!! Richard Forder-Denham
My own designed (inspired by others out there), printable from any 200x200 printer, I bought all of the non printed parts from Amazon! And B&Q 😁 I have tweaked it since this photo to give it a little more rigidity and height so that I could add a wades extruder. This was the 1st prototype.
