martin collins 1
Got a couple of kits to build, one is 70" span, i have used the backing off covering film to cover my plans on smaller models but need a bit more this time. Where do you source thin sheet plastic from to cover your plans to build on?

Capt Kremen
SLEC sell (or did?) Plan Protector - Pack of large sheets last an age. Before the current situation, Waitrose 'vegetable/fruit' bags were a great free source after their content had been removed! (The plastic has a 'greasy' feel to it and repels most if not all adhesives). Film backing was never fully successful for me, ended up picking bits of plastic off anywhere glue found a way out. Rob Fairweather 1
Screwfix plastic dust sheet. Plenty in one pack to last years, cheap too

Piers Bowlan
I agree with Doc, ‘cellophane’ is the thing to cover a plan with, commonly called Florist Wrap on eBay. No glue will stick to it. It was used for laminating fiberglass back in the day.

Pete Crosby
I've been using an old roll of matt laminating file (big roll) nothing seems to stick that bad to it even cyano comes free..
David perry 1
I used to use the backing off solarfilm. Sad days now they've gone...
Chris Walby
Solarfilm gone? Strange the web site was working a few days ago, placed and order Phoned and added some solartrim and it turned up a couple of days later. Great service in my book, only problem is if they are out of stock..they are out of stock, but at least you know where you stand.

martin collins 1
Ended up buying 8 builders polythene dust sheets off Amazon for £8.50 including free delivery, they will last me a lifetime!
Piers Bowlan
Not too sure you will find polythene dust sheets satisfactory Martin as some glues stick to it, - but it will protect your workbench. Very useful for decorating too, but better not let the wife see or she may get ideas! I haven't bought from this source but 20m for £6.10 seems pretty good value to me for cellophane.. Pete Crosby
How good is the Florist film, found 100m 80cm stuff for a tenner on ebay.. florist film 100m ebay 10 quid
Mike T
Heavy duty clear polythene rubble sacks (non-woven type). Cut off the welded seam, slit one side and you have a large sheet which 'drapes' well over the plan and is perfectly transparent when pinned down. Haven't yet found anything to stick to it. Flex it when you've finished and cyano, PVA, epoxy, dope - all just pop off.
